Who's Bow Hunting Oct 1st ?

Warm rest of week I think? Morning temps good though I think? How ya like that Bow? Mathews or PSE? IDK them

I like them all...lol. The Switchback xt is the flatest shooter I have ever shot , The original Mathews flagship outback is legendary ;smooth and quiet , and there is a PSE in the garage for varmints.

If its to warm I will wait for a week, don't like to sit when the bugs are out.

Ya IDK either bow, but looked like a Mathews wood grip. Yup this morning was nice, but went out for evening and came home, to warm and skeeters in woods around face mask grrrr.

I go out this afternoon and as I'm getting ready I realize I forgot my release, thank god I practice shooting with fingers! It's 6:50 and what walks through, a dame coyote! It was a little too far away without the release and the way my day was going I'd miss and loose a good arrow. It can only get better moving forward, I hope!

I know, it ranged at 38 yards, just too far without the release, inside 30 with fingers I would have taken the shot.

Bow hunting is the best AS I SIT IN STAND ::::
I see four bushes/trees spotted if he goes that direction so I can draw bow unseen, will he come out in time holding at full draw, where is sun, can he see my shadow, will the fawns blow my cover before big boy comes in range, my wind is bad direction if they move another 15yrds, it's so cold can he see my breath, three sides of me have does alert in my peripheral vision , my boot soul just squeaked on ladder stand as I moved, big boy needs 10 more yards in range, I need a squirrel or something to make noise to take deers mind off me, This is the stalemate I love bow hunting lasting 10 minutes or so froze, who makes first move, who wins... A rain drop just hit rim of my hat, it sounded so loud, it's starting to wet snow now, my release finger is so cold at full draw, my peep site has snow in it, I need to use the V shape above peep now in bow line to site deer on pin as I practiced before for this situation, I made mistakes today, I have been pinned down, I always said if the Deer could shoot back is this the spot I want to be at with a stand, I can't hold full draw anymore, big boy walks, I'm taking a doe from closest side that is mature, I lost this trophy but won the stalemate with Doe jerky at least in fridge.... But I could build the list stalemate problems forever LOL, those are just the FEW fun ones !!!

If I see a Coyote, I’ll be out the next morning will my 223 and a call. Coyote are worse than city hunters.

I was out a couple hours. Kicked one up on way in and back out. Had a couple of tiny doe walk by at one point and two other larger on their way to me but then they decided to walk away or bed down, never came close enough. Good day from a sighting perspective.

As usual I get selective each season. Tons of possibke shots on does and a spike. A 6ptr snuck upon me and didn't like the shot potention when I was able to draw. If nothing good 1st week, I'll have to hit the release the following week.

That's freaking awesome buddy !!! Congrats !!! All I have is blood painted arrow from Tuesday GRRR... Looked like a PERFECT hit, saw arrow hit clean pass through, thought deer would be 15 20yrds away, got down to soon and NO DEER found ! bad arrow pics from phone. Looked for 2 hours, never found it. Used a little Hoyt Hypertec at 67lbs...

I don't have that selection anymore in past 4 years, gotta take jerky meat with Does, or small Bucks... No fawns though...!

Even with a bad hit they should die quickly. I want a new bow though for next season. Not happy with this one’s speed.

<LOL I hear that all the time about new better bow from hunters. AND AGAIN..... I take deer with my 1000.00 carbon hoyts, and just as well with my little 250.00 hoyts.... It's all in the placement of arrow. My old hypertec shoots damn near fast and smooth quiet as my 1000.00 bows. You did good buddy, leave it at that, You played the stand off froze at draw and beat the odds...

Most all my bows shoot or shot at 278 - 280..... All been set at around 65-67lbs need bows that don't telegraph bow string, jump, not in the speed so much as most think.

Been seeing them just not close enough to shoot at. Had at least one within fifteen yards of me crunching apples and with all the leaves up I never saw it. Seeing lots of wildlife, really cool!!

I seen them Sunday crunching hickory nuts, could hear it, but like deep in trees and like 50yrds off from me. I watched them for about 10 minutes. I need like 30yrds and under.

That bow is a Cabela’s Instigator made by Bowtech. It’s shooting about 265fps at 63lbs.

And btw, it literally was a standoff. She was facing me for awhile and I held at draw at least a minute, probably a little more.

My next trip up will be the 15th. Going to hunt Wurtsboro and stay at my father’s apartment in Milford, PA. The 40 min drive is better than paying for a hotel or driving home. Hoping to stay sun-tue.
