I work with varied generations all day every day. The younger generations dont want to better themselves. If you can get them to show up for work they balk at the idea of actually completing the job or doing anything above and beyond. If you offer them a leadership position they dont want it, its easier to be told what to do. I walk though the lunchroom at work and people dont talk to each other anymore, they are self absorbed trying to impress a fantasy world on FB, IG or Ticktock.
I don't think that's the case. I spent an hour running this morning, and 45 minutes after that working on a Go-lang class, and then I have weight lifting in the afternoon and an another 30-45 minutes of coding after work ends. That doesn't count work. And I'm not alone either in that I know other people that behave similarly.
You may just work with people that don't give a shit. That's not a generational thing. It might just be it's easier to fall into that with the distractions of the internet.
