When I was in college back in the mid -00's Facebook was fun. It was just for college kids and basically didn't have any of newsfeed/political BS. It was inevitable that it would be opened to everyone and that it would be commercialized, but in the very beginning it was fun. I don't think any or us at the time would come to realize exactly how much of a propaganda engine it would become or a tool for "fake news" (read: psy ops).

On the other hand though, O-bummer is probably thinking-" By Allah, wouldn't it be great if there was no internet and everyone believed the same 3 news channels."

I tried
For a couple months I really tried. I found no use for it, it wasnt interesting and I honestly cannot figure out the appeal.
I have no desire to talk to "old" friends and if I want new internet friends, I come here.
