Why is reloading so satisfying??

I've been reloading for a very long time... but today, I dunno.... I was at the range and I had my different cases out with different loads and bullets and folks were asking me reloading questions. They were also amazed at how I had my cases organized with the same weight bullet, but different powder loads for testing differing recipes to see how my accuracy and recoil is.

First thing I always tell folks is how satisfying it is to make ammo loading recipes... and secondly it is addicting to just reload.

Biggest question I get, is... the "how do I get started?!"... and when I start talking they look at me like I'm nuts memorizing everything one would need to just scratch the surface on reloading.

Also I feel like it's overwhelming for some and they get scared off so they don't want to bother with it. Especially with the part if you double-load+, you could end up having a gun blow up in your hands/face.

I get as much fun reloading as I get shooting that ammo I just made.

There has to be something wrong with me.

I reload everything I shoot. If not for the Dillon 650’s. I probably wouldn’t. Think I shoot just so I can reload.
picked up these Star loaders a few months back and made the auto indexer (shell plate rotate.) I actually use them so I can have the Dillon’s for other cals. The Stars with the auto indexer loads just as a 650. ..Bout 1k rds per hour.

I cycle tumblers of brass every 24 hours during winter months...a lot of it I don't shoot myself, but once deprimed, cleaned and dried, I bag it up and throw it into the Bin...eventually someone needs or wants it, sometimes it's even me!

I love reloading, it's therapeutic after a hard day at work. Come home, go into my gun room, sit down at my bench and start pumping out ammo. I enjoy the silence, the clicking of my press, and the rhythm that you get going when you put a case in, pull the handle, drop a bullet, repeat, and repeat.

I think I would've loved to be a machinist.....and somehow reloading is as close as I'll get. It's relaxing and I enjoy the challenge of holding tolerances.

I enjoy the process of reloading, I especially enjoy working up an accurate load and seeing the results down range as I tweet things and groups tighten. I cannot think of a single part of the whole endeavor that is unsatisfying.

This is true, good observation. Also people who start out shouldn't be obsessed about the speed. They should focus on learning the process and making sure each step is performed correctly and that results are consistent for the entire lot. Speed and shortcuts will come later. Check everything with gauges and caliper, this will not just avoid problems, it will also become a learning experience. Nobody cares how many rounds per hour you make, but whatever you make has to cycle and shoot.

Honestly, I have more fun reloading than shooting sometimes. (Oops did I say that out loud?).

I just like working with my hands and like the process itself. And when I started casting this past year, it added another level of enjoyment to the whole process of reloading.

Plus, it's hard for me to get to the range as often as I would like to. But, I can always go over to my reloading press and reload at anytime day or night if I want to.

Good point. Setting up the machine is as important as producing the product itself.

When you own your own biz and have many other hobbies and don’t have a week to load 50rds. The Mrs shoots also so we can go through 3k-4k per mth….and that’s why I care.
