Anyone using them?

A guy I know was robbed (Michigan). Entire contents of his safe removed. He had a box of (mostly) 1911 related items he no longer had a use for, so he shipped them my way.

Among the contents of the box: WC Elite (2) and Legendary (1) eight round magazines, grip panel screws, and said Shok-Buffs.

Just debating if I should use them or not, as I have zero experience with them.

What say you?

I've used them before. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

It seems like a good idea at first, but they limit slide travel and can cause jams. I also had one once get caught up in the recoil spring somehow; which not only stopped up the gun, but also made getting the gun apart an enormous pain. That was many years ago , and I haven't used one again since.

Used to use them on my race guns. Cannot say they did anything. Changed them every match. They were pretty chewed up after 750 rounds.

I've used them on a couple of my 1911s, my Kimber and Ruger both were fine with them.

I've heard of them being used in mini 14s, believe it or not. I will research and get back to you.

Yup guys over at Perfect Union are using them in Ruger Mini 14 and Mini 30s . For the op rod and gas block somehow. Didn't really research it too much.
