Winchester Wildcat & Xpert rust?

I have both Wildcat & Xpert 22 rifles.Have have had them leaning against hutch and had a silicone treated cloth between guns and hutch.Been there a few months went look at them today and both had rust on bbls where they contacted cloth. Bbls are matte finish. Chemical reaction???

Pictures would help. What kind of cloth was it, cotton or synthetic?

I belive its cotton. Bought the cloths at a gun show,they are yellow and I sprayed silicone on them myself to wipe down guns.I did not wipe down these guns with the matte black finish. The guns just got laid against the cloths.

I use cotton and haven't had a problem. Maybe there is something in the silicone spray besides the silicone?

Sounds like condensation that the silicone is displacing is redirecting droplets to the barrel?
While the cotton cloth would absorb any condensation
