How much is it?
I know many gun shops use "hurricane" film.....which is probably the same stuff. They use it on their gun cases. Good for smash and grab attempts.

We have a 3M account at work I will be looking into this. My question would be on install. I would imagine if not done right it wont work or will look bad. Also you might not get a warranty coverage if not installed by an authorized dealer.

Did you install it yourself or was it installed for you?
I'm actually going to try and have one of my local installers quote doing all my windows on the 1st floor this summer.
Depending on how expensive the quotes are, I may try doing it myself.
This is first I've ever seen this product. Pretty cool. I want to learn more about it now

As I understand it to work as intended the film must be well secured not just to the window, but to the window frame itself. Otherwise the entire broken glass pops out pretty easily. Either structural caulk is used to bond the film to the window frame, or preferably a special frame attachment system (3M IPP) is installed. Because the film can be quite thick it is somewhat of a beeatch to install (or so I've been told).

Did that include caulking or the holder thing?
That is so little money it really seems silly not to do it. Now to find a local installer.

Wow, that's really not bad. It's time for me to make the call.
When I lived in Florida in a condo, I had 3M hurricane window film installed on the patio doors and windows. 2 triple sliders, 1 double, and a window came out to about $1400 (1998). Got through 3 hurricanes and many tropical storms. Saw the video that showed two guys beating on a patio door with a baseball bat and a sledgehammer - got it installed that week.
