Woodchuck hunting (photos potentially graphic for some)

Every year I go to the same property I call Woodchuck Paradise.

Some years woodchuck paradise can be called No Mans Land. Either they don't mow the grass out there or mama didn't have her babies.

I've gone out there and shot 20 of them in an hour and ran out of ammo because I didn't think I would see that many. Been hunting chucks there for 47 years.

This year it turned out to be a good place to call in coyotes. Killed 3 and shot at 5 or 6.

Well the first time out this year was on Fathers Day morning at 730am. Normally go out at 630pm but that day the kid was making me dinner and the land owner called me the night before and told me the company that leases the property mowed it.

First kill looked small but I thought it was because it was at a distance. Nope,,, it was a baby and mom came out right after I shot and she took a bullet too. 2 kills in 5 seconds

Oh and I saw 4 big bucks.

Those things that I never see during the season,,, happens every year, always see them when chucking.

I’m trapping and relocating a family of them from my house right now. They are eating my shit and digging u see my neighbor’s foundation. He doesn’t seem to care much, but he will when his concrete pad decides to give way.
I actually have one in my trap now. He was out looking for food this morning so I got him with a few grapes. This is the fourth one in under a week.

And tonight was kind of a joke chuck hunting, seeing how I shot at 3 and only killed one.

I did see 2 big coyotes though. We shot 3 of them in this field, this past season.

I relocate them to a large park. Those critters are there anyway and people around the park deal with them anyway. One guy has a garden on the way there and it is totally fenced off. I’m ok with that and I live in the city so I can’t really kill that many of them.

few days ago hit one with the car in the trailer park coming home .. heard the thump .. he/she got away grrrr .. seen it again a few days later ..

Had a friend who owned one of those u-pick apple things. Woodchucks had invaded the place and people were getting hurt falling info their holes, so my buddy and I went to clear them out. We had some fun, but it's kinda like trying to control the squirrel population. There's just too many of them. He had some fun though.

Yeah relocate them in the hav-a-heart trap to the bottom of a pond or stream...have a bunch in the barn I want to evict.
