So we’re not in a recession I see? Wow this is just amazing to me. We have not been to target in months where we normally would go every few weeks so I guess I get it. We stocked up and have been working through some of that stick in an attempt to wait for prices to ease. Seems like that is occurring now. I just wish we could have waited to buy a car but it wasn’t really feasible.

I won't go shopping in there.... especially since they got hacked a couple years ago. I also never liked the layout of the store, nor it's appeal.

Food and fitness/health always come first. Always.

That being said, getting healthier has actually nearly halved my food bill and given me a more balanced diet. A lot of garbage foods are costly.

A bag of chips? I can buy an entire tub of greek yogurt for that bag, with enough protein to make a dozen fruit smoothies. I can buy two pineapples with that same amount of money as well and eat fruit all week. That bag of chips is a waste.

But tell that to folks that use food stamps and WIC.

Not all, but most of the folks I see using food stamps are buying junk food and they look like they need a much healthier diet.

I wish they'd ban candy bars and junk food from WIC and food stamps.

WIC isn't about helping people get the food they need, it's about throwing money without strings at people. Government "give backs" are a problem to begin with.

That being said if the money is paid by the taxpayer, then the taxpayer should be able to do whatever they want with it. But once they're out of money? Not feeling well? Tough luck. Should've eaten better / it's on them to fix their problems. I don't want to hear they're hungry cause they blew all their money on chips instead of veggies and protein.

Also a perfect example, it's not astronomically high to eat well over a week. My groceries for a week / the amount of food I actually eat in a week is roughly:

$4 strawberries
$7 blueberries
$3 bananas
$1 in peanut butter
$5 for random other food (got a pineapple and three peaches this week for example)
$7 in chicken
$1 in oatmeal
$1 in bread
$1-2 worth of peanut butter powder
$3 in mixed nuts
$7 in protein cereal
$4-5 whey protein
$3 almond milk
$10 broccoli / snap peas
$5 misc veggies (A few plantains normally)
$20 household supplies (paper towel, soap, etc)
$5-10 random other stuff like olive oil or whatever.
$10 other protein sources like Tofu or veggie burgers
$5 worth of fish, typically salmon.
$5 greek yogurt

Realistically, that's not far off from what I eat during a week including paper towel / other stuff for the house. It's probably slightly higher, but it doesn't take much money to eat relatively well. $450ish looking at the balance sheet per month. If you're buying junk food that is $8-9 a bag, in that same period you're shorting yourself $40 almost a month on something that is full of garbage.

Target went woke, now they're going broke.

They started with pictures of fat people in their ads. Then they started cozying up with the gays, trannies and blm types. Any time I've stepped in the store in the last year, it seems like all the staff are bearded ladies and other misfits. It creeps me out enough that I left without buying anything. The people of Walmart seem normal in comparison.

Walmart is doing almost everything right. They really upped their selection during the pandemic. Their supply chain issues are basically solved. They added a lot of benefits to their Walmart+ that it makes sense for me to not drop it (IE, I save on gas, get Paramount+ now free, and get free shipping on a bunch of shit and free deliveries).

Walmart is expanding their biz from what they do best, and moving on Amazon's territory.

Also I don't have to even interact with a person now. I go in, pick the items I want, and basically scan the register and it pays for shit and I'm out the door in 5 minutes. I leave the gym, drive a few mins on the way home to Walmart, and grab whatever I need. Easy as hell these days.

They had to drop the power requirements because the 4000 series is a shitshow. I think I'll pass till we have more info on it. They started producing the 3000 series again probably because it's a little more tried and true atm.

Not surprising as the government has been throwing out money in covid relief the last couple years. Throw on top of that the covid unemployment increase to over $1000 a week.

They used to sell ammo. I have an old box of ammo with their sticker on it. I forget the price but it must be from the 60’s or 70’s.

I have gone to Target twice.

1st time - To check the store out. Meh, no reason to go back again.

Until the 1st mask mandate that is.

2nd time - Anyone that pays attention to the covid thread knows that I was steadfast about not complying with the mask mandate. So I went to Target to test their resolve. Because I didn't give a shit if I got trespassed off the premises at that particular place. Long story short, I eventually just walked past the security dude and forced his hand. I walked into the store and walked around for about ten minutes. Walked back out and told him to have a nice day... LOL

Anyways... Target sucks IMO. YMMV
