Maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal to modify the adapter plate for your rifle. I get not wanting to hack at the slide, but an adapter that might be $50-$100, probably worth the effort.
I'll never understand why companies have to make something just a little different than everyone else does. I wish the companies would just agree on one standard footprint.
I'm not sure how it works with guns, but there are a million aftermarket manufacturers out there that make bolt on accessories for automobiles (eg exhaust systems, intakes, tuners, lift kits, trailer hitches, even just aftermarket repair parts). I don't think making an optic that bolts on to a particular gun's footprint inherently violates any patents or copyrights. If that was true, you'd have to go to the dealer everytime you needed a light bulb or a muffler for your car.Patents????
