CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming could allow grizzly bear hunting for the first time in decades when state officials vote Wednesday whether to allow as many as 22 grizzlies to be killed this fall outside Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks.

The decision, clearing the way for hunters to shoot and kill as many as 22 grizzlies in a season that begins on Sept. 1, comes two weeks after the neighboring state of Idaho approved a plan allowing for no more than one grizzly to be taken in its hunting season opening the same day.

I do like to see a sustainable and expanding population of grizzlies, their range is far reduced from what it originally was, although I realize they're dangerous.

Same here, they are dangerous, and they are awesome animals. By far they are my favorite animal on the planet. However if they're going to allow for hunting of them, then their population must be healthy and strong.

I am awed by them. I love native wildlife, and the grizzly to me is a best example of the untamed West. Apex predator in the lower 48. Breaks a cow's neck with 1 swipe of it's paw upside the head. 8 feet tall, 800-1000 lbs. of muscle, 6 inch claws, teeth and a bad attitude to back it up.

That is some rugged, breathtaking and beautiful country. Take your vaca in the USA. Spend your money here. There is a lot to see and do without ever leaving our borders.
