X-Caliber Barrels

Anybody here have any experience with X-Caliber barrels? Specifically AR barrels.

I am looking for a certian barrel for my Bullet Guy lower that I am building into a fixed mag hunting rifle. From what I can find, the company was started by ex Remington and McGowen employees. They get consistent excellent reviews about quality and accuracy. I just wanted to see if any local people have used them and what their thoughts are.

What rifling? They used several types. Some better than others.

I was looking at 20" to 22" stainless, .223 Wylde, 1:8 twist 3 groove.

I have in 5R 8 twist and 3R polygonal 8 twist but not the 3R from xcaliber.
I know arp has both in 5R and 3R melonited and people seem to be very happy with both.
I can only speak for the 5R from ARP because that is what I got with the 5/8" threads vs. the typical 1/2" threads that IMO is a mistake.

They are out of stock on the 5/8 threads right now.

If you go with target I would say choose the one with the right twist for the longest bullets you want to shoot.

They should be solid performers like the 5R but have not used them myself.

If you can get the bolt matched to the chamber job that is also a nice thing if you are going for extreme accuracy. But I am not sure if
xcaliber also offer matched bolts.

I am not dead set on one particular brand of barrel. I am open to all suggestions. Thanks for the info Meketrefe.

What i do want is a 20 to 22" lighter weight stainless 223 Wylde barrel with a 11° crown. It seems like most barrel companies require you to send them the bolt you will be using with whatever barrel they make or you have to purchase one of their bolts.

Are you looking for competition and spending is not the issue or something decent enough?
I think you can order them from a few places. Lothar Walther custom shop will provide the bolts too.
ARP provide the bolts but they do not have a target crown in stock right now.

Any idea of the bullet/s you are going to shoot and desired COAL? there are lots of nice reamers that will give you very interesting options.
I think the saami 223 is a good chamber given one can ask for .020-30 extra freebore using a throater wiht a smotther leade angle and if one is intending the 75gr to 77gr bullets. keep in mind pmags, pri and asc they give you 2.3 coal and some even a tad more.
There is a PTG 223 match chamber reamer that might be perfect otherwise the wylde is very popular but there are other 5.56 reamers that depending on brands will give you more freebore.
