Just came in the mail. The 154cm versions were on sale recently. Benchmade is making then in s30v next year.


I'm fairly certain someone got me a Freek for christmas too. Im really looking forward to it. The axis lock is the most fun I've had with knife lock in a long time.

I bought my lady a pink mini grip for Christmas too!

Haha well mine also got about 50 other things from me, but she doesn't ask or expect any of it. I got her a little purple Kerhsaw from me along with an olight a few Christmases ago. She has her own little edc setup, so I thought why not upgrade her with a mini grip for $62.

After christmas, we might get "us" a ruger pc as a late Christmas present.

How do you like that freek?

I sure as hell don't need another knife but I keep looking at them and want to buy more. I have 4 benchmades already

The Freek is nice. Be prepared though that its super lightweight. Imagine a slightly thicker bugout. The steel liners are thin, and only go about 1/2 down the handle.


If you use your knives for edc that includes prying and scraping, I would pass. The Freek has a fine tip and is pretty thin behind the edge. This makes it a great slicer though, and an excellent stand in hunting knife. For cutting, it is plenty durable.

I hear some complain about the rubber handle grabbing your pants making it hard to pull from the pocket. I have not had this issue myself.

All 4 of benchmades have perfect lock up and good centering. The freek however is harder to axis lock"flick" open. I'm not sure, but it could be that the blade has less mass, or the pivot is just not as well broken in. That orange grip I have literally just falls open when you pull on the lock bar.
