The usage of strobe is usually unneeded. Your light is either on or off, no benefit to worry about getting it into strobe mode. Most lights have some weird order of button presses to activate the strobe mode. Some require you to press buttons on each side of the weapon light...whoever thought of that is a jackass. You want me to worry about activating not just one button but now two on opposite sides of the light when in a stressful situation when faced with a possible deadly encounter?! Because you have absolutely zero reason to use strobe while searching. Other lights require you to press the bottom twice in fast succession to activate strobe. Another annoying thing to work with because now you’re light is going through different modes over and over. Let’s say you’ve now pressed it twice to get into strobe. After being in strobe mode you decide you want to now go to constant high so you let go of the switch and press it fast again...you’ve now just reactivated strobe again. You have to actually completely let go of the button for a predetermined set of time by the light manufacturer to allow it to default back to high mode. NOW...let’s say you are in constant high and want to go to strobe. So you think you’ve pressed it twice but you actually pressed it three on accident and now you’ve entered low mode on accident. All those modes are annoying to work around while searching. If you do it long enough I think you’ll realize that you wish you had a high mode only light.

Stats look decent for the size. Same lumens as the surefire (500) not sure if more or less candela (don't know the surefire candela. But this will have 5,000 which is ok.
This subcompact wml has similar output (1,800 candela less) than my old handheld "Streamlight Protac 2L-X", while I want more. That's still alright for output and size

I've never used a light so knew nothing of the stupid methods to get to strobe. I guess if you use for search your area a straight light would definitely be best. I was thinking in terms of light in the face use though, thats where I thought a strobe in the scumbags face would be beneficial. But, for the price of a good light, I have other priorities. Like trying to locate another handgun lol.
That's old thinking back when light output wasn't all that good and strobing would be more disorienting.
If you can find someone with even a 6,000 or more (12-15,000 is even better, don't worry about 54k) Candela and ask them to stand 10-15 feet from you in a poorly lit room (not even completely dark) and have them hit you with that light and see how you feel
If you have your gun out you ideally want to be using a light attached to your weapon. So when you think about these things you have to be realistic and put yourself in the situation. You hear a loud noise like breaking glass in your house. You grab your rifle with a strobe feature, but now you have to use a handheld light that only has a high mode (on/off) to do your searching. You’re going to search your house with that handheld, possibly find a subject, now put that light into your pocket to stow or just throw it on the ground. Now raise your rifle (which hopefully has a sling, otherwise you’re walking around with your rifle in one hand and a handheld light in the other) and activate your light with the strobe feature which will require some odd combination of button pressing....it’s honestly just too much work for no benefit.
Not to mention how long do you plan on having a gun pointed at someone in strobe mode to disorient them? A light on high mode allows you to gain as much information as you need to make a decision based on the situation. I’d rather have a subject illuminated constantly and be able to keep constant visual on the subject instead of having a flashing light where I only see approximately half of the visual information since the light is literally turning itself off over and over, which could put you behind the power curve since trying to track a moving person under a strobing light is not optimal. Another view on the subject is if the surrounding atmosphere is dark enough to where you believe a strobing light would disorient a subject, a constant bright light will disturb their light sensitive receptors (rhodopsin) in their eyes just as much. I used to believe in the whole strobe fad but after trying to utilize it in real world scenarios, it just doesn’t hold up to the hype. You have to think to yourself, how long do you honestly plan on holding someone at gun point with a light strobing hoping that it disorients them enough to just give up? If a gun pointed at someone isn’t enough to change someone’s behavior, a strobing light isn’t going to do jack but complicate the situation for the user of the light.

If no one thinks strobe has any use, fine. I only mentioned it as a thought of what I'd use knowing how me eyes react with it pointing at them. No biggie. I'll be spending on another gun anyway. Doubt I'll have the extra coin for a good light.

You sure can try searching with strobe but it’s not very effective. You’ll have to keep turning your light off and then going through all those modes built into the light to get back to strobe. Everyone has their own way of doing things. I’d rather make it more simple and effective. If you feel that searching with strobe is better, than you do what’s best for you.Or just search with the strobe

Good lights don't have to cost all that much, Streamlight TLR-1HL is like 120 bucks and actually has more output than the Surefire x300u, just not as durable but still duty level.

Easier, yes. More accurate, not necessarily so. With a Viridian X5L, the strobe, green dot, and HD camera is definitely a plus for any defensive scenario. You still have to aim....
