This is the elected class in a nut shell. I could share some of our policies that would blow your mind. Make you feel dirty and numb.

The only way you stop this is to literally declare war on these gangs. And we know that our elected leaders don't have the balls to do that. These gangs operate with impunity because there are zero consequences for their actions.

Statistics show where the overwhelming vast majority of these killings happen and they know who is to blame for the majority of them.
For what ever reason, the elected and the Police departments are afraid to call out those doing these crimes.
Ever wonder why there are so few murders in the Suburbs and the Rural areas of the Country?
Want to stop nearly all crime? Go to the area that these criminals are located. Larger cities, especially what we know as the inner city. The poorer areas of the city.

Not a cop but a peace officer. There is a big difference in the LE community. It’s like saying someone in space force is the military. Military in name but not the same . DA’s have their own “investigators” with police officer powers, a probation officer who has never held a gun or made an arrest has peace officer powers,
Security guards are often seen by non LE as “ cops “ too. And in some cases, security guards are given special patrolmen status and have peace officer powers.

The Space Force is absolutely part of the Military.
U.S. Space Force is the sixth independent branch of the U.S. military. It is organized under the Department of the Air Force, similar to how the Marine Corps is organized under the Department of the Navy.

I saw a group like this riding around Memphis on and around Beale St when I was there last summer. They came out right around dusk.
I took it as a sign that our visit was over, and rushed my wife and kid out of there.

NYC sheriffs aren’t cops. They don’t answer 911 calls, they don’t run a jail or house prisoners, only do civil enforcement and rarely make arrests .
Court officers do more enforcement And there are plenty of NYPD police officers who aren’t cops either but are employed by that department with the title of police officer.
I just think this judgement is rather funny, I do. Back the blue as long as they are the correct blue?
Many big city coppers have this attitude, I equate it to little dick syndrome. Not trying to be insulting, but...

I know they are technically part of the military that’s why I used the comparison. But to compare them to someone who served in Afghanistan or on a ship at sea isn’t the same . It’s like that with someone with arrest powers and calling them a cop. It’s like calling one of them a marine .
In this particular department, yes. Beholden to the mayor.
Not sure if all Counties down that way have their own County Sheriffs department.
The NYC Sheriff was created as a particular type of LE for a particular task in the city.
Not even close. They are in fact a Branch of the Military.
You see, I see things much differently. I served for near 25 years. I respect and honor all Vets.
Active duty, reserve, National guard. All of them. They are all equal in my book.
A Soldier in the role as a cook is just as important as a guy deployed to an area of heavy fighting.
Special Forces, Seals, Para-rescue, finance private? All the same to me. They all deserve and they all receive my full respect.
When I speak with another Vet, or I see a sticker on their truck, I do not ask how or where they served. I honor their service period.
The same goes for those in LE. I do not try to figure what they do or what kind of work the are involved in. I do not ask them how many arrests they have.
I guess this is just a huge difference in our characters. Maybe it is the area that I am in, we do not sit around judging what each other does on a daily basis. I belong to a club, it is a club for those that wear/carry a badge; we all just seem to respect each other and the contributions to society that each offer.

It’s okay. I worked for both big and small LE. I think it’s the Penis envy of some departments because they aren’t respected and have a complex about it-lol
Small departments ( in comparison to larger departments) get mad respect from a lot of NYPD officers because the individual officer is called on to do more with less specialized units behind them. It’s the small departments that aren’t called on to do much are the ones who aren’t respected . County/village cops have had the same issues between each other. And even with the state police. The state police have a tough academy and do real police work in parts of upstate but are just highway patrol downstate. They aren’t as well respected downstate as a result , But great training ,
Before the NYPD merged with the NYC housing cops and transit cops. Housing and transit cops were not respected by the public but they were respected in LE circles . Why? Because of what they dealt with.
As some people say( clean version ) , it’s not size of the dog but the fight in the dog . NYC sheriffs department is not respected in LE circles .

The person who pushed the papers in a police department might be a sworn officer , have arrests powers , but it doesn’t make them a cop. It’s an important job but it doesn’t make them a cop. They have a title of police officer or peace officer. But aren’t a cop.
If I took a navy cook, put a rifle in his hand , and gave no additional training is he a marine or be called a Ranger? But they are all military right? That’s a better comparison to illustrate my point .

Corrections officers have a very tough job , are LE , and aren’t cops. FBI agents are LE but aren’t cops .
Nope, and that Ranger would not be called a cook. They are still Soldiers. Equal on all levels. At any point, that cook could and does get called to the front lines. You really have zero understanding of the Military, huh?

Actually I have a good understanding of the military. My comparison might have been a poor one to get my point across . The title of “ cop” is not a civil service title , nor in the law. An FBI agent is not a cop.
There is a reason why in LE circles the term LEO is used more because a cop is a police/peace officer but not all police/peace officers are cops . Calling these other LEOs cops is like calling that cook in the navy an army Ranger. Different jobs. And while important , it’s not the same. Most FBI agents aren’t cops nor could fill a cops shoes for long. They could be police officers but not cops .
And yes, that police officer or cook could be called to the front lines . Desk jockeys are called out when we have riots and such or just targeted because they are a police officer . It doesn’t make them a “ cop “. A cop is a distinction on how that police officer carries themselves in the situation. “Cops “ prove or proved their worth on the street/in the field. Certain LEO positions aren’t put in a position for their members to do that .
And a lot FBI agents tend to be very quick to correct you if you call them a cop. They see it as an insult .

No, calling both the cook and the Ranger "soldier" is closer to what you're talking about.
Now, your notions of who gets to be a "cop" and who doesn't is closer to the idea where most civilians call everyone in any branch a "soldier".
It may piss off a sailor or an airman if you call them soldier (and it probably will piss off a soldier of you call a sailor or airman a soldier too), but to most civilians soldier is just the name for a member of the armed forces.
Cop, police officer, peace officer, etc are the same way. Those in the industry have their notions of all the fine distinctions, but to the outside world it doesn't matter.
You probably think of everyone who works with pipes as a "plumber". But in the industry, a plumber is not a pipefitter is not a steamfitter. But to you any guy connecting pipes is a plumber, right ?

I think my point is the opposite but simThe cook( if in the army ) and the Ranger are all soldiers . Not all soldiers are rangers.
Not all police/peace officers are cops. It’s a destination of how that police officer works. Not all police officers in the same department are considered cops. That cook could be placed on the front lines and in danger but isn’t expected to perform to the level of that ranger.
Do think the career paper pushing female officer is expected to perform the same way as the cop who has been on patrol for 10 years if called out to the front line of a riot? Same danger, different expectations. And that does and did happen for a lot of 2020. And they are both police officers .
But your recognition civilian misuse of the title “ cop “ is right. The press often calls the AG of US- America’s top cop when he/she was never an LEO beyond being a prosecutor.
It’s like some military get into an uproar about the term civilian by the police even if the dictionary says it applies to non members of the military, police, or firefighter services.
