Gun-ness is the individual pride in what you got and also realize that you get along with others who also like or dislike as choices vary. However from this, we glad you got something you like and want to keep it forever. All love them 357s and enjoy those who like them also. At least, you do not have to chase the brass around!

I have a 4" & 6" model 586, a 2 1/2" model 66 And a 2 1/2" model 19. I've never owned a 686 but any way you slice it the .357 magnum is a blast to shoot.

Have a J-Frame, a 6-inch 686 and Cowboy Action in .357 Mag. Great caliber to shoot. Even better because you can fit .38 in it too.

Great gun you have there, Enjoy it and shoot the hell out of it. The trigger will get better with time and lots of use.
The 686 is Smiths Cadillac in the 357 world, Rugers Cadillac is the stainless 6" GP100. I prefer my GP100 over my 686 or 586.

The GP100 is fun to fire all day long, the SP101.....not so much.
I bought the SP for a carry revolver but then I found a great holster for the GP which makes it fine to carry concealed.
I stll carry the SP more often because thats what I bought it for.

So awesome! Congratulations! I was looking at a used 6 inch 686 a while ago but it was gone by the time I was able to buy it. I ended up grabbing a 6 inch GP100 for a song. .357 is a great round and revolvers are always worth it.
Nice Revolver looks great and will last a life time. I am craving another .357 or 9mm revolver...

.357 was my very first handgun. Still have it today (30 yrs later). Ruger Security Six 6" Stainless. It's such a pleasure to shoot.

Great choice with the 357. Great for target shooting hunting and personal protection.

I just have the grips it came with, they a comfortable for me.
After half a dozen holsters I found the Simply Rugged Sourdough holster. Its ugly as sin but holds the gun flat against me and the way the holster is made hides the shape of the gun. Its extremely comfortable or I wouldn't wear it.

Ive been a revolver fan ever since but only have a jframe, but several pistols. I got the revolver I always wanted and got a great deal to boot. It only has about 200 rounds down the pipe, but that will change fast!!!

It looks as if your GP has a slight gap between the frame and trigger guard assembly. Mine has that as well but only on the serial number side, like your picture. I've tried deburring the inside were it hinges, but no luck. Unless that's not yours, lol.
