It was an anti-terrorism statute.
The NY "sensitive places" law bans peaceable carrying and not just acts of terrorism. Moreover, we should take note of the footnote in NYSRPA v. Bruen about the Sir John Knights case.
The US Supreme Court noted that if and when the historical record is unclear/ambiguous, then the Second Amendment's unqualified command ("shall not be infringed") should prevail.
See Bruen footnote 11 (“To the extent there are multiple plausible interpretations of Sir John Knight’s Case, we will favor the one that is more consistent with the Second Amendment’s command.”) Lastly,
the case of State v. Huntly, 25 NC 418, 420 (1843) is further proof that this alleged NC law should hold no bearing on questions of 2A meaning. The Huntly case explains that even assuming that this law was in place in 1792, the law had been eliminated by 1838. Huntly explains,
“The argument is, that the offence of riding or going about armed with unusual and dangerous weapons, to the terror of the people, was created by the statute of Northampton, 2nd Edward the 3d, ch. 3d, and that, whether this statute was or was not formerly in force in this State, it certainly has not been since the first of January, 1838, at which day it is declared in the Revised Statutes, (ch. 1st, sect. 2,) that the statutes of England or Great Britain shall cease to be of force and effect here.” State v. Huntly, 25 N.C. 418, 420 (1843)

After having ACLDN for several years, I think that the cost difference is well worth it for the additional features that they provide. I see they even cover you *if* you have a self-defense incident even if you are carrying outside of your restrictions. They are attorneys, and not insurance. Personally, ny has lost the ability to tell me what I am and am not "allowed" to do. They stopped following the supreme laws of our land. I will (have in fact) in turn stop following their unconstitutional laws. It really is that simple. There are consequences to every action we take every day. You just need to be prepared to answer them. Do you speed? Do you roll stop signs? Do you jay walk? We all break their laws every day. Do you really think they are going to push a case on you for carrying in one of their locations? They cannot risk it. This law is only working when you have the fear that they desire. Beyond that there is nothing.
There are ways to have what you want in ny. It is getting harder but there are still ways. You have to be creative sometimes. I will continue to live my life as an American in ny until I can get the fuck out. Sometimes you have to bend the rules for your best outcomes. Lean on that rule book just as hard as you can.

not much discussion going on here these days - i've been away from NYGF for a bit and am just seeing that in Dec we got to carry in a few more places. So it looks like private property accessible to the public that doesn't serve alcohol and religious places are the only newly allowed?

Only thing that changed was the restricted places got "slightly" less restrictive.
Meaning that for example, you want to carry your gun to Walmart, you now can.
Remember: Concealed is concealed. Don't be situated in places you wouldn't otherwise be unarmed.
You can't carry at the following:
For the purposes of this section, a sensitive location shall mean:
(a) any place owned or under the control of federal, state or local government, for the purpose of
government administration, including courts;
(b) any location providing health, behavioral health, or chemical dependence care or services;
(c) any place of worship, except for those persons responsible for security at such place of worship;
(d) libraries, public playgrounds, public parks, and zoos;

services and supports;
(i) the location of any program licensed, regulated, certified, operated, or funded by the office of mental
health;

(k) homeless shelters, runaway homeless youth shelters, family shelters, shelters for adults, domestic
violence shelters, and emergency shelters, and residential programs for victims of domestic violence;
(l) residential settings licensed, certified, regulated, funded, or operated by the department of health;
(m) in or upon any building or grounds, owned or leased, of any educational institutions, colleges and
universities, licensed private career schools, school districts, public schools, private schools licensed
under article one hundred one of the education law, charter schools, non-public schools, board of
cooperative educational services, special act schools, preschool special education programs, private
residential or non-residential schools for the education of students with disabilities, and any state-operated
or state-supported schools;
(n) any place, conveyance, or vehicle used for public transportation or public transit, subway cars, train
cars, buses, ferries, railroad, omnibus, marine or aviation transportation; or any facility used for or in
connection with service in the transportation of passengers, airports, train stations, subway and rail
stations, and bus terminals;
(o) any establishment issued a license for on-premise consumption pursuant to article four, four-A, five,
or six of the alcoholic beverage control law where alcohol is consumed and any establishment licensed
under article four of the cannabis law for on-premise consumption;
(p) any place used for the performance, art entertainment, gaming, or sporting events such as theaters,
stadiums, racetracks, museums, amusement parks, performance venues, concerts, exhibits, conference
centers, banquet halls, and gaming facilities and video lottery terminal facilities as licensed by the gaming
commission;
(q) any location being used as a polling place;
(r) any public sidewalk or other public area restricted from general public access for a limited time or
special event that has been issued a permit for such time or event by a governmental entity, or subject to
specific, heightened law enforcement protection, or has otherwise had such access restricted by a
governmental entity, provided such location is identified as such by clear and conspicuous signage;
(s) any gathering of individuals to collectively express their constitutional rights to protest or assemble;
