But from what I have read, the guy who pulled the gun had it taken away from him and was shot and critically wounded by the guy he had been attacking? Not sure who pulled a knife first. Reports said the guy who took the gun away from the guy who threatened him was arrested? WTF?

According to the articles I read, the 36 year old guy came on the subway, acting aggressively, and attacked the 32 year old guy (who appears in the video to be somewhat smaller that the 36 year old guy who was on top of him and pounding the shit out of him in the video).

Then, the 36 year old guy gets pulled back, and the 32 year old retreats to the other end of the car. At that point, the 36 year old guy starts saying something about the 32 year old having stabbed him. (I wonder if the 32 year old guy managed to stab him in self defense while he was being wailed on by the 36 year old guy?) In any event, the 36 year old guy then unzips and pulls out a gun from his coat pocket (Note to remember for those wanna be subway shooters, that putting your gun in your clothing apparently keeps the NG and NYC cops from finding it as it is not in the bags they may be searching...), he then holds it in his right hand, and begins advancing on, and threatening, the 32 year old guy. The video pans away and then you hear at least 3 gunshots.

Other reports said the guy who pulled the gun had it taken away from him, and then he was shot and critically wounded by the 32 year old guy.

And OF COURSE, the 32 year old guy gets arrested!!! WTF if this is how it went down.

On that point, I have read that something like 2500+ cops have quit or retired in the last year? AND, due to all of the money they are pissing away providing hotel rooms and all kinds of other benefits (including monthly cash) to illegals, that NYC has been forced to CANCEL the next five (5) police academy classes!!!

As more and more officers bail out of that job, they are going to find that they are seriously fucked as a city! More so than they are already.

I asked a friend of mine who has been to NYC what being in NYC is like. He said that it's something that can't be described, that it has to be experienced.

The only excitement around here where I live is coyotes and the occasional snapping turtle.
It's nice and boring.

As most know, i grew up extremely rural, couldnt see neighbors homes, in a very secluded area. Grew up playing army in the woods, shooting off the back porch, etc.... After college i started working in the city. I live about 50-60 miles north of the city in a nice area (not as nice as the area i grew up in in regards to how rural it was), but sadly i cant make the same money outside of the city (and i have alot of kids).

I avoided riding the subways on any kind of regular basis until this past year, parking, gas, tolls,etc are just too much to afford. I ride the same subway this happened on. All i can say is no distractions while i ride the subways, situational awareness, and
I always check up and down the cars when i get on.

Its still a tough pill to swallow for this mountain man to go to work in the shithole of NY.

If i ever hit the lotto ill be in the mountains again, full time.

I'm done being upset with things that happen in NYC. The people of NY and NYC voted to be subjects not citizens. There is a difference. Subjects are to be ruled and controlled while citizens are individuals in charge of their own life, their own decisions and respect others.

Well under Article 35 in NY, the person who produced the gun appears to have escalated the situation. Having no other firearm on the scene between the two men, he couldn't charge him. Remember that with article 35 it about escalation and who does it. Very little room given for when a firearm can be produced without the necessity of the perpetrator escalating the situation. We all know what those are and they're very specific.

Clearly, the asshole who got shot was looking for a fight, and he got more than he bargained for. This shit reminds me of the old adage that “an armed society is a polite society”. Just like when Bernie Goetz was riding the NYC subway, and wanted to be left alone. The 4 assholes that attacked him found out the hard way.

Someday, if SCOTUS finds the balls to do what’s right, and allow law abiding people to carry there to defend themselves, these violent assholes who think they can fuck over anybody will either knock that shit off or end up dead. Either way works.

Down here in the South, a hell of a lot of people carry. And politeness reigns. Most people smile and are cordial, well behaved, and nice. And I would venture to say that those who are armed would not hesitate to open up on any asshole who was seriously threatening them.
