$150,000.00 for "optics"? That seems outrageous to me. Some detail seems to be called for!

This is exactly what it is. My city department went to optics and they simply bought all new guns with optics installed. Then they bought a $12,000 drone and had to train everyone on the new guns. So we wonder where all the tax money goes. I’m also sure they can not sell these old guns directly so they go to an FFL at Pennie’s on the dollar because the FFL gets flooded with tons of old guns no one really wants. In my city’s case the guns we're bought and owned by the officers so they get to keep them.At $600 +/- per trijicon SRO that would be 250 pistols. But then again the guns they have would either need to be milled of the optic of their choice or more than likely they would buy new optic ready pistols.

It's gotten so bad that the cops are stealing more money than the criminals.Seizing funds seems outrageous to me!

It is the objective of Government to spend money, not to earn it, nor save it.Government and your tax dollars![]()
As all programs throughout the years....
Seized funds started out okay..
Now, they take from so many that are arrested. The arrestee in many cases has to prove where the money came from prior to it being released.

I work with kids who keep NO cash on them, let alone at home. Its not a matter of suspicion, they're just a different generation. When my house was robbed years ago, the cop wanted to know why I had cash on hand few grand, I told them because I live in America, I can if I want to and if I need to buy a car today to get to work I could.

On the topic, my agency is also going to red dots and new guns. I'm not sure what the policy for changing the batteries will be, but I'll presume that it'll be done at least during the requalification cycle or when our guns are inspected by the dept armorer.
Because fuck you, that's why. Why do I drink coffee? Because I want to. Why do I eat steak? Because it's delicious and I want to.When my house was robbed years ago, the cop wanted to know why I had cash on hand few grand, I told them because I live in America, I can if I want to and if I need to buy a car today to get to work I could.
We always keep a couple grand in cash for emergencies.I work with kids who keep NO cash on them, let alone at home. Its not a matter of suspicion, they're just a different generation.

Imagine your wallet get stolen and you have to cancel all your cards. Sure would suck not to have any cash available then.
If it happened on a holiday weekend and you can't get to the bank to cash a check it could turn into a disaster.
It used to be where even in an extended power outage stores would stay open and you just had to pay cash, but I bet that doesn't work anymore.
But, yea, after the '91 ice storm in Western NY always have enough cash on hand for emergencies.
Yea, you need to be able to make change. You may be buying stuff from people who can't make it themselves.I keep a rather large amount of cash in the house. Always have. One never knows.
Not all large bills either. A wide variety of bills are the best.
At 5 yards you might not even want to wait for full presentation. All the Red DOT fans started this non sense.
Until you stand off at 5 yards wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, eye safety and a gun belt with a airsoft gas pistol and draw down on each other at the beep, stay quiet. No one is picking up the dot let alone a front sight post. Pain your reality. It's an eye opening experience.
The idea that you can train away a body alarm response of protection is ridiculous. You WILL NOT TAKE YOU EYES OFF YOUR IMPENDING DEATH.
Spend the 150k on training. If you're not training to shoot instinctively out to 15 yards, your not training.![]()
