We we will see an offer from the state is expected today after 11 hours of negations yesterday. I d not think what they are asking for is unreasonable.
All they want is appropriate staffing levels because the state deemed 70% ok, an increase in OT rates, base pay increases, a $5,000 signing bonus to attract CO’s and a maximum of 16 hours of work per day. 24 hours shifts should never be allowed.

I took the time to read the Taylor Law and found exactly zero provisions that allow for arrest of striking public employees. The one penalty I did find in there was that they can be docked double-pay for the time they spent striking, meaning no only would they not be paid for the time they were on strike, they would need to pay the state the equivalent of their wages for that time as well.

...which can probably only be enforced if they return to the job. I suspect if they quit, even this penalty could not stand.

My union is terrible. In one breath they bash the people that refuse to do anything for us then they tell us to vote for them. I asked one time why this is and they told me well we know their track record but the new people we don’t so we know how to handle them. The people in office will be better than the replacements. The entire Taylor law is weird and confusing. I studied it years ago when I was pushing my department/union to strike for many of the same reasons as the CO's.
