We don't need to subsidize electric vehicles to make them take hold. We need to get cheap electricity online and the infrastructure to deliver it in place. If your house electric bill dropped to $5/mo, it would not take anyone long to realize the massive savings they could realize by switching to electric vehicles with home charging, electric heating, etc.

The main issue is, the governments are going about it the wrong way. They need to increase the supply (make electricity dirt cheap), rather than try to artificially inflate the demand (banning gas vehicles, outlawing natural gas heating, etc). By approaching the solution from the completely wrong direction, they're driving up costs of things like electricity, greatly reducing - or even completely destroying - the economic case for electric everything.

There's one well-known, safe, scalable, and effective solution: nuclear power, combined with grid infrastructure updates (including burying end-point delivery lines). All other options are too little, too late. Unfortunately, achieving this requires politics, which is geared towards collecting votes, not implementing effective solutions.

Ending the EV incentives is not new. Elon knew that was coming last summer. Trump made no secrets about it.

And Elon was cool with it. It might cut his sales a little, but it might not, it would hurt his competitors much much more.

I think EVs are ready for prime time now. They're not right for everyone for every situation, but certainly the infrastructure is there now that they make sense for a ton of people.

They're fantastic for anyone who can install a charger at home. We very rarely charge anywhere else. Like maybe 3-4 times in the year we've had the car, and my place is *not* urban by any stretch. We still have other vehicles, gas and diesel if we need them, but the fact is 99% of our driving is the Tesla now.

Just curious what you think it will cost to remove the majority of them? 10’s of billions, 100’s of billions. Will it be cheaper in the long run, probably but it won’t be cheap. We should certainly do it but only to the point where it makes financial sense and the bad ones are out. At some point catching the last 5-10% may cost us astronomically more than it’s worth. Time will tell and it will be an interesting ride.

Probably be cheaper in the short term too.

It will cost billions to remove them, but it costs billions a year to keep them.

How long is the ROI on deporting a criminal on welfare, section 8, and 10 other kinds of government dole. Could be less than a year.

That's a fair point. It is hypocritical to say this guy is too young meanwhile Hogg is like, what 21-23 years old and they were OK with him.

It's more about if they agree with the person or not. Which I understand, in politics you try to push for the policies you think are correct, and if someone has influence in the direction you like, they get support. Both parties do this and have a lot of hypocrisy built in. Doesn't mean you shouldn't call it out or that you are wrong in calling it out.

This has been my concern with a lot of the decisions made. If you want to make an impact you need to please voters so you can stay in office and accomplish something.
