Pennsylvania non resident permit not accepted?

I got my Pennsylvania nonresident permit today and the lady who issued it told me that the PA permit is only good for me in PA and not the states that have reciprocity with PA and not NY. I cant verify this one way or the other. I was hoping the PA permit would be valid in West Virginia since the NY is not.

Anyone know for sure?

It is good in the states that say that have reciprocity with non resident licenses.

You are good to go. Some states do not recognize nonresident permit's. Those states include but are not limited to South Carolina Florida and Maine. West Virginia is not on the list.

They are full of shit. You can go to any of the states websites that are highlighted in blue and see otherwise.

When getting Legal advise Please Super Pretty Please do not get it from anyone associated with issuing your permit. They are Clerks with very little Legal experience. Your kids Bus driver may know more then they do.

The kid in line ahead of me was asking the Deputy a bunch of questions about where he could carry, reciprocity, etc. He tried his best, but admitted several times that he just didn't know the answers to some of the questions. When he called me in, he looked at my paperwork and said "You're from New York? You probably know some of this stuff better than I do. You should have said something to help the kid out."

Atleast he admitted to not knowing.....that in itself shows a lot. Better to admit than make up some BS.

New Hampshire only recognizes Pennsylvania if you are a Pennsylvania resident.

Maine is a little goofy. You are required to inform a police officer immediately upon an official contact if you are carrying without a permit issued by Maine or a reciprocal state. (Pennsylvania is not one) You are also required to have a Maine permit if you are making use of the "employer parking lot" preemption. You also need a permit to carry with Acadia National Park or the various state parks.

Since you could just buy one from your neighbor with no paperwork at all in KY once you moved, why would there be any to bring them from NY ?

Because I already owned them. No reason to not bring them with me. I have since done quite a bit of "horse trading", and buying since I've been down here. So many of them are gone now, and replaced by others.

I figure the PP clerk will lose her mind when they finally figure out I am gone, and just took MY guns with me.

That shit right there is downright funny!! I'll just be sitting down here at the range and , waiting for them. I'm pretty sure my local PoPo may have something to say about that. They really, really do not care much for the political antics of NYS!!

Did I forget to mention, most of the Friends I have made down here are LE, that I have met through working at the LGS. We shoot together quite often, and have become pretty good Friends. I'm thinking if the NYS PoPo come a knockin' on my door, the 1st thing I am going to do is call a couple of them on their cell phones, and see how they feel about it.
