Carrying a Sidearm while Hunting

HaHaHA I remember like 18 years ago a friend of mine asked DEC this same question. Because every time he went up in his bow hunt tree stand in morning there was a pee'd off Coon in it LOL... He wanted to bring just a 22 handgun..

I carry a side arm in a owb holster for regular ( rifle ) season w/ a rifle. but I usually wear a coat while hunting. I spoke to the DEC in the county I hunt, and they said I was ok to carry w/ a rifle (licensed of course).
For those that have a full carry or sportsman license, I don't see a prob. But check w/your dec.
I prefer to carry in case I need to make a quick shot on coyote, bear...
