How many of the mob should the cop have let breach the area where the VP and congress were located before he started unloading?
I am no apologist for the police, and your questioning of the lady getting shot is almost humorous.
Aren't you a cop? What do you have to say about the supremely underwhelming approach taken to controlling the mob that preceded the woman getting shot?

I am employed in the field of Law Enforcement, yes. I was not there, but, I promise you this... I would NOT have shot an unarmed woman climbing through a window. Especially when I could see there were friendlies about five feet behind her that would have taken her down. Congressmen and the VP were already long gone. No threat to them. None at all.

And, By the by.... They did not break into the capitol, they were led in by the Police. She did not break the window. She attacked no one. She was NOT committing any felonies. Maybe a Misdemeanor or two at best.

But, maybe you are correct, maybe the Police should just shoot into crowds from now on of all that are Rioting.... May bring an end to the scum that are destroying our cities...

Never has a White man come into one of these threads and say I am White. Never. What does the capitol protest have to do with skin color? This does not fit at all into the incident, but yet, you feel the need to toss in that card? Why?

Okay, I'm giving a lot of thought to how I should respond to this and coming up short.

My first reaction is that this fucking sucks. You're here and still willing to engage so I'm going to assume we have love of guns and freedom in common at the bare minimum. You're also really pissed off by many of us. Might be a you problem, might be an us problem, probably a little of both if I use my experience as a guide.

Whatever the case, I keep coming back to the idea that this is one of the conflicts that is tearing apart our nation, writ small. We should try to fix it, but you're right, not in this thread. Maybe we could create other threads specifically on those social positions and views and hope they don't turn into a shitshow too quickly?

So in the interest of honest discourse, I offer the following on this topic:

I don't know who the invaders of the capitol building were. My best guess is they were a mixture of crazy rightists, crazy leftists and more middle of the road Trump supporters that lost their moral bearing. They were all people and they were probably all Americans - just like the people in the BLM/Antifa riots.

The shooting is under investigation. Didn't look good to me, but there may have been extenuating circumstances, such as a VIP in the immediate vicinity. I'd hold the same opinion regardless of skin color and without regard for the ideology of the riot she was participating in.

Normal, good people are on both sides and we need to be civil and respectful. The alternative is unspeakable but I feel it drawing closer.
