At only 6 months old it'll probably run just fine in a fuel injected vehicle, even undiluted.
If you mix it half and half with fresh fuel you'll never notice a thing.
Even 2 years old it would probably run fine like that.

totally agree.
I had forgotten how the government went after him with tax audits following the crash. Typical washington behavior. Just like Trump, Burry was an outsider who played the game and won. His criticism of the government and the Fed got him in trouble since he made it clear the disaster in the mortgage markets was foreseeable and therefore embarrassed the "experts."
Remember this the next time you think the govt will ever conduct an honest investigation (durham report cough cough).

Everyone has different requirements ... I would say at least 3 months living expenses ... and leave it at that. In the past I have had over 6 months expense covered . During a layoff it was welcome indeed. To be honest with you folks I have not recovered to that level of cash on hand.. I do have a lot more food and such on hand today in the house. Food inflation is real so that was a good move for me.. However .... My insurance company would frown if I sent them a few spiral hams in lieu of a check....

We were talking general cash on hand in the house. I for one would not have 25K in cash at the house. Way too many things can go wrong and poof it is gone. I agree 6 months worth of expenses is great to have available.

I think 5K is enough, my thought is if I have to drive to hotel and stay there for a while I could
imo.. It's a good idea to have cash on hand in case of an emergency. When the electric goes out your ATM card isn't going to work. Your debit/ credit cards aren't going to work. At least with cash you can still buy things even if the store's CC machine is down.
How much cash to have on hand depends on the individual... Some may have a few hundred, few thousand. Others may have more. Everyone is different. Some folks don't feel comfortable with a lot of cash in their possession. Do what works for you. There's no wrong or right way.

I know my neighbor doesn't keep any cash in the house bc he often asks to borrow some of mine. I use "borrow" loosely. I would offer him a reverse mortgage type of deal if the house wasn't in NY.

Many people dont know that there is summer blend and winter blend gas.
Rotate / use up your supply accordingly.
We have some 500 gal storage tanks at the farm and I usually only get summer gas. I'll wait till spring to refill them as we go through much more during the warm weather ( boats, yard equipment, etc).
I also cut the farm diesel with kerosene during the winter. Straight diesel when the snow is gone.

Regarding cash on hand. As much as you are comfortable with. What are the circumstances? Power out for a few days...1k ought to do. Extended grid down.....5k+. Need to bug out someplace else due to untenable living conditions....10k+. Need to disappear on a long term basis....As much as possible. Cash and Hard Currency (metals) is like any other prep. What are you looking to accomplish. How much food and water is enough? How much ammo? How much fuel? How much medical? Depends on your scenario. Are you trying to ride out a bad storm and aftermath or survive the zombie apocalypse or somewhere in-between on that scale. I try to get to the more extreme end of the scale because I subscribe to the better to have it and not need it than the other way around.

So for example, when we travel I like to bring enough to maybe get home.. in the us it’s about 1500 if I’m going more than 500 miles. When we go to Mexico or Caribbean it’s about 2500 ( think chartering a small plane or boat)
wife and I went to Iceland and brought 1500 each. Thinking it would probably cost more to get home from there.

Winter gas converts from liquid to vapor at a lower temperature. Summer gas may have starting/ running issues in cold weather as it stays liquid at low temps.
Winter gas may evaporate more in the warm days and possibly contribute to " vapor lock" in cars that are prone to it.
Fuel injected motors may be affected less than carburated units due to fuel being under pressure in the lines.
I was under the impression that the ethanol content was 10% all year ( I'll read the decal at the pump next time I fuel up)

Usually some on me, some in carry on, never in checked baggage.
if we do excursions it’s in my pack that I always carry. If we’re doing a pool or beach day it’s locked in the safe in the room with passports.( Generally) not always sometimes it stays in the room if for example we’re going snorkeling or something where I’d have to leave the bag

Same here. We travel often, and I always have plenty of cash on me to make sure we can get home.
I had a friend get stuck in Florida years ago when his bank shut down his debit card thinking there were fraudulent charges as they saw it getting used erratically down the east coast. He called them and they said they couldn't turn it back on. Sorry. He had to have family wire money as he had NO cash with him at all. This was 20 or so years ago.
