By unobtainable I don't mean illegal in NY. I mean a gun so rare only a few were made or guns that may have never left the drawing board. Or in my case something that was never distributed to a civilian market.
I think there is one in a local gun shop, 'GunTrader', Lakeville, a hamlet on the northern tip of Conesus Lake.First model Colt Dragoon in unused condition.
That might be worth looking into but im talking an original from 1848 which are insanely rare. Only 7,000 were ever made. Some were sent to Europe and the rest to US military. Very, very few survive now.I think there is one in a local gun shop, 'GunTrader', Lakeville, a hamlet on the northern tip of Conesus Lake.

Ever watch the u-tube series "Forgotten Weapons"? Its gold. Sort of like the history channel before it went to h*ll.Maybe this will seem odd to some but for me its the M1895 Lee Navy. It was so far ahead of its time and had such a unique and interesting action. It's success my well have accelerated American small arms development considerably. I would love to shoot one but none exist in a fireable condition nor is there any ammo that would be safe to fire. Any existing examples are museum pieces.

I have an original third model and a second model that is inoperable.
There are alot of reproductions. I bought a very convincing third model a decade ago.
Thanks for the info Robin, I will contact them, its worth a try.
Thats a third model, with the round trigger guard. The first and second models have square trigger guards. No mention of 1848, 1849 etc.. in video.

The first model was made 1848-1850, the second was 1850-1852 and the third from 1852- 1860.
I wannt a first model, and sinse this was an unobtainable gun thread, id like it unused from 1848, which do not exist.
Oh, and that is a very low ball evaluation. A third in good condition usually sells around the $12,000-$15,000 range.
Yes, I've been watching Ian for some time now. I also enjoy its sister channel InRange TV.Ever watch the u-tube series "Forgotten Weapons"? Its gold. Sort of like the history channel before it went to h*ll.
