That is a good idea. Especially for a .45 Super or .460 Rowland since those require conversion parts anyway, why not build one from the ground up?

A 3rd gen S&W automatic is under consideration. Particularly one of those 4006 Tactical models the California Highway Patrol used. Those things are sweet. Like @dsdmmat said earlier, 2011s are oversaturated. The market might welcome an updated version of some legacy designs.

A tricked out 1911 in .38 Super would be pretty cool except that cartridge is all but dead now it seems. And again Ilament the unjust death of the .356 TSW which could have been a 9mm Para usurper. @dsdmmat did Para Ordnance ever do a double stack .38 Super? THAT would be a very cool gun...

Whatever I get next I think it will be different from what I have now. So a poly/striker in 9mm is not very likely to ve selected next. However a 10mm might. I do have a an M&P 10 on the list and also a USP which would be a good companion to the 1911. I am also toying with the idea of having...

I have an 11 peg hangun rack in my safe and currently own an M&P Carry Comp, and M&P shield Plus, a S&W 340PD, a S&W Wesson 586 L-Comp a Ruger Mk IV Hunter and now the Colt Competition 1911. The Mk IV doesn't fit on the pegs and goes in 1 of 4 nylon holster pouches hung on the safe door. This...

    Range report: Colt Competition

I think the factory blue grips ARE from VZ. Or at least VZ offers a Colt Branded G10 grips that looks awfully similar. I replaced them with those Houge rosewood grips but I also ordered some balck VZs with the golf dimple pattern and the fancy screws. Black on black can either look professional...

Hammer cock goes click-clack, safety goes snick snick snick snick, trigger goes snap. A most fidget worthy gun. Also the Talon Grip on the front strap is a transformative addition

    Range report: Colt Competition

I have 500 rounds of Speer Lawman sitting at home and 1k coming in from Atlanta Arms. I am going to be shooting the Colt a great deal while the price of .45 is as low as it is. I also have a holster, belt and mag pouches coming in eventually too

And here I thought shooting my 1911 would be an occasional indulgence! That's not much more than 9mm. I have 1k more rounds coming from Atlanta Arms now.

Considerably cheaper and much more convenient than sending her away to Clark Custom for checkering.

    thinking of a new revolver

The internal mechanism is completely different. Some would claim superior to the original but tgere are MIM parts involved. The new Pythons are not as prone to going out of time however. All in all the new Pythons are very nice guns however one looks at it.

    thinking of a new revolver

The model @dsdmmat suggested above would be a great option however given your parameters I would try to hunt down a somewhat older production 586 L-Comp. It is a 7 shot L Frame in a matte blue finish and a 3" ported barrel. A Performance Center model It was introduced in 2000 and has been in...

    Range report: Colt Competition

Well I certainly didn't find my 1911 wanting for accuracy. I often found MY personal accuracy wanting. The 1911 seems somehow particularly sensitive to technique. Punishing of sloppy technique and rewarding with great accuracy when I bore down on good fundamentals. The Colt Competition does...

    Range report: Colt Competition

So I have heard of the "idiot scratch" and in fact asked about it when I picked my pistol up. The fellow behind the counter very helpfully demonstrated the proper disassembly and reassembly of the 1911. Not an especially difficult process. That said I wonder if there is also an "idiot mark"...

My new Colt Competition 1911. Ordered it 8/16, picked it up 8/21 and shot it for the first time today. Put 500 rounds of 230gr Federal FMJ through it and am pleased to say I encountered not one malfunction or hiccup. It shot well for me too This was the first target I shot, you can see me...

    thinking of a new revolver

It pains me to say as I like them but I would avoid new manufacture S&W revolvers. Both the ones I got had to go back for service right out of the box and one of em I had to send back a second time. Probably better off with a Ruger. Taurus has been noted for much improved quality lately. Are...

Kimber NG 1911 or Fusion XP-Pro

When I ordered my new 1911 I wanted it in .45 specifically because all my other pistols were 9mm. I wanted a 1911 because I wanted something different, something new to me and the choice of caliber went along with that. In your case I would choose the gun that is the most different from all...

    9mm Match Ammo

So I did just that and ordered a 400 round lot of the stuff and I shot 60 rounds of it today. I benchmark against my HST carry load: Seems I achieved my goal of finding a lower cost FMJ load that equaled tge accuracy of my carry load. This ammo wasn't all that expensive either at about .45 a...

Lets talk WML (Weapon Mounted Lights) all encompassing

Yes, that is very impressive performance. I don't think the TRL-7 has the HP-X variant does it? But the the TRL-7 HL-X isn't really intended as a duty light anyway, runtime is too short. As CCW light for private citizens however it is well suited. On the other hand your HP-X has the...
