I see, I'm surprised I haven't seen this before. I did assume the gov't profile cuts were pointless (the point is to fit a grenade launcher right?), but I didn't know how much they affect things. In your opinion, what are the optimal barrel profiles if you want similar weight to gov't profile?
I understand what you're saying, and I don't think it's silly or anything. That said, I want to limit how much money I put into this build because in the future I'll be saving my money for a higher-end AR. That's why I'm thinking mid-level. If I do upgrade the barrel, it will probably be the...
Thanks, I'll check them out.
I'm not totally sure yet, I have to test it some more. I didn't have a good steady setup before for bench resting, it didn't look promising though. So even though the thread is a bit premature, I'd still like to hear what you guys have to say about it.
Hey guys,
After my trigger thread, I'm looking towards the next AR upgrade which would be a barrel. I've slowly been upgrading my entry-level AR to something that would be more equal to mid-level. So I'm looking for opinions on mid-level AR barrels. Something that isn't as expensive as say...
Damn, sorry to hear that. Yeah, it could be that West Seneca PD is really slow with that or that its their least priority. I don't know what you could do to help that. :(
I would really try to figure out if something went wrong with your application. Your references should have been contacted like 6 months ago and then you should have gotten your detective interview soon after. Maybe the PD had trouble contacting the references, idk.
I'm in Amherst, same as my friend. Did your references get contacted? Did you get your detective phone interview?
Oh wow, I don't think that's normal. You should really try to figure out if something went wrong.
Calling is fine and all, but these are the expected wait times for Erie. I got...
My friend applied late November 2015, he just received his permit yesterday, Feb. 11 2017. Township is Amherst. So that's about 14 1/2 months. Brutal.
Also he tried for Unrestricted, but received one with the hunting/target restrictions.
For sale is a new, unopened Burris AR-332 scope. It is a compact 3x power prism scope with a built in Picatinny mount. It sits at 1/3 cowitness height.
I did not open or inspect the sight. The only thing I did was remove the UPC code from the outside of the box to send for a rebate.
This...
So I ended up getting a Geissele SSA-E trigger, thanks to help from @Bullet Guy . Just installed it today, very nice! It's at least half as light as the mil-spec I was using, no creep at all (unlike the very creepy mil-spec), and very crisp. I don't find it too light at ~3.5 lbs.
Obviously a...
Yes, I agree it's not very scientific. I haven't been able to find tests using more accurate representations of real exterior walls in a home. But I posted in response to Podmonkey, and my point is that regular 55 grain may not have the desired effect of yawing and fragmenting before the bullet...
There's a few, but I liked this one in particular. There is the possibility that its because of the type of ammo they're using, but I'm not sure.
Your take?
I originally said something similar to this, but I went back and edited it out after watching some of the drywall tests of 55 grain on YouTube. They weren't very convincing.
Thanks for the input. A couple of follow up questions for you: What about the ARStoner triggers on the same price level as the PSA? Any experience, about the same quality? Also, once you get to around $90 is it better to just jump to the $100 upgrades? It seems like a slippery slope of...
I'm wondering what your opinions are on cheaper $30-$50 "polished" trigger groups for AR-15s. Do they provide a noticeable improvement over a basic mil-spec trigger? Do you think it is worth it overall?
I have a semi-budget AR build with a basic mil-spec trigger, and I am considering putting a...
I made a thread about this a little while ago. I think the Feds can remove Assault Weapons bans of states based on the protection of the 2nd Amend. by way of the 14th Amend. using the US v. Miller precedent of constitutionality.
I think one of the big problems is course structure in the liberal arts majors. They create these BS, easy courses for these kids to take. If you're writing an essay about your personal feelings on current events, you know your course is a joke.
This type of BS doesn't happen as much in the...
Yeah, that's Erie for you. They can't handle the demand. I haven't called at all, maybe I should. The estimates are around 14 months now. So I figure I still have a bit left.
Good video,
Just one gripe is he's saying don't change anything, but he's talking to professionals with high end rifles (probably with 14.5" barrels). Most of us are using 16" barrels and possibly cheaper manufacturers who may overgas their systems to err on the side of reliability. I'm saying...
Sounds good, any standard weight buffer (3oz) will function well for you. No need to get anything heavier unless you want to experiment with recoil impulse. Good luck with the build!
:mg:
A standard buffer is totally fine, but if your rifle cycles well with a heavier buffer it will be softer shooting and the extra mass is said to help with bolt closing under very fouled conditions.
I don't remember reading any downsides as long as you test and make sure it's always reliable.
Also, it's usually recommended to either leave the spring dry or use only dry lube if you'd like to have less twang. Wet lube probably wouldn't cause real problems, but it causes grime to stick more.
I'm no expert, but from my previous research I saw most people recommending the heaviest buffer that the gun can fully cycle reliably. So I would guess that you would benefit from a H2 or H3 (actually that's probably too heavy) buffer over a standard carbine buffer.
Does your buffer spring...
