Emporium, about 30 mins East of St Marys, 45 mins south east of Bradford.
My property taxes dropped to about half of what we were paying in Cheektowaga. The new house is more than double the size of the old, and the lot is 6 times the size.
The trades offs are nothing moves quickly here, and...
We moved to north central PA in October. So far I've had to brush off the vehicles once and have yet to see more than an inch or so of snow on the ground. Unless you really hate winter, it's not so bad here.
I was talking to my wife about this over the weekend. We both were about 10yo for the Blizzard of '77 and remember it pretty well. I recall being stuck in our house for more than a week. My family lived on Leonard Street in Buffalo at the time. My father was stuck in his office at the then...
Sort of related, Cheektowaga required a sewer inspection before they would let me sell my house. They charge $100 for an inspector to make sure your downspouts and sump pump aren't discharging into the sewer system.
They didn't require that when we bought the place 23 years ago. Somewhere...
Hook the inverter directly up to the battery while it's in the car and run a good (10g or 12g) extension cord to your furnace, The damn things don't draw more than 15 amps. And that way you can start the car every hour or so to keep from killing the battery.
(FWIW, I did that at my parents...
We moved last month. Not because I'm a coward, but rather because the reduced taxes and lower cost of housing/living make our retirement goals more achievable. There is no way our property taxes would have been cut by 75% in the foreseeable future.
The better (not great) political landscape...
If ever there was proof that he is a "do nothing career politician", Schumer
is campaigning on his win for a 2010 law he helped pass in response to a 2009 plane crash.

I'm sorry, but this has to be the stupidest f'ing idea I have ever seen. Growing up my friends and I all had realistic cap guns, water guns, etc. We played cops-n-robbers, army, cowboys and indians, etc...
I need your twitter handle so I can follow you. You mentioned it at the T Horton's get together I met you at but I didn't note it at the time. If you don't want the public connection PM it to me.
FWIW, I use my real name on twatter. I have no shame in any of my beliefs/statements. (I am...
I agree! Not to sound like an elitist, but a person with no skin in the game is always going to vote for whoever gives them the most free shit.
For example, if you don't own any property to pay property tax on, you really don't care if they go up. And let's be honest, a large chunk of the dem...
I have both a Mossy 500 and a Remington 1100. I shoot the 500 way better than the 1100. My wife is the opposite, she is better with the 1100.
I think it has something to do with the stock angle? I feel like I can't get down over the bore with the 1100.
So if you can, try before you buy.
Same one we use. No issues after 100's of quarts. We may upgrade someday......
Get yourself one of these - Presto Canner Pressure Regulator (amazon link)
It saves you having to watch the gauge all the time. You set the weight according to your elevation and it basically auto-regulates the...
No worries.....my post was a bit ambiguous.
As you have probably discovered, Magpul makes backpacker stocks specifically for both the PPC and the 10/22. I love the way they store as a single self contained package when taken down. Aside from the storage for spare mags and/or ammo under the...
Consider mounting it in the Magpul Backpacker stock. I just did it to mine. Makes for a really nice compact package (and now I have a twin for my 10/22 version).
I raw can beef stew. The pressure canning process does all the cooking so that when you open it later all you need to do is heat it through and thicken the gravy a little. Always turns out tasty and very tender.
No recipe to speak of......just stew beef, carrots, onions, potatoes, celery...
I inherited one from my FIL. Build date Dec. '43. Great shooter, great condition, but somebody put it in a sporter stock.
Eventually I would like to find a correct stock for it.
What time was that? I got there around 10:00 and the line was a little shorter, just the other side of the Casino entrance. It moved pretty well though, I don't think we waited more than 15 minutes.
Prices seemed OK, nothing great. My son bought a Mossy 500 at average price. I picked up a...
2??!! That's crazy talk! One shot. Hit the bullseye @ 50 yards with my .243 to verify the scope hadn't moved. One more round for the small buck we got. My two boxes should be good for at least 10 more years........:D
I have a series of these lining the left side of our shipping container at our rural property -
HDX Chrome 6-Tier Heavy Duty Metal Wire Shelving Unit (48 in. W x 72 in. H x 18 in. D)-HD18481302PS-1 - The Home Depot
They hold a surprising amount of weight. They seem expensive until you price...
It appears quite a few of us paid our union dues at Tops......worked there for two years during HS. Never did get any benefit from that.
Funny fact, I worked with Poloncarz there.....he was in dairy.
