Dan Bongino questioned why the Biden administration surrendered Bagram Air Base, a heavily fortified base with a large runway, outside of city limits, BEFORE evacuating the embassy and American civilians. He said trying to fortify Kabul's airport was nearly impossible. Especially, since it is in a large city.
American citizens, employees, and contractors should (apparently) have made their way to Bagram over several weeks while American military forces controlled the area and could still project air power to force Taliban assets to keep their heads down until our people were out of harm's way.
Who the heck really planned and executed our abysmal evacuation?

It has been widely reported that Taliban leaders used Facebook’s WhatsApp and Twitter to help capture Kabul. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid enjoys free reign on Twitter with an account that has over 300,000 followers.
Facebook’s WhatsApp has become the de facto communication platform of the Taliban, who reportedly used the service to spread propaganda, communicate with residents of Kabul, and share official statements with the world.
In messages apparently distributed to Kabul residents via the messaging group WhatsApp, the group proclaimed that “we are in charge of security for Kabul.” The messages listed telephone numbers in various neighborhoods that citizens should call if they saw problems such as looting or “irresponsible” behavior on the part of armed individuals.
Meanwhile Twitter and Facebook banned the sitting President of the United States back in January and millions of conservative Christians face shadowbans, deplatforming, and blacklisting at the hands of Big Tech companies. If you are a Christian conservative in the United States of America you are treated worse and have less freedom online than the Taliban.
The significance of Big Tech’s involvement in the destabilization of Afghanistan is largely being ignored by the likes of the ADL, SPLC, and the many other activist groups who for years have lobbied Big Tech platforms, hosting providers, payment processors, to kill any messaging not in lockstep with the un-american fascist left.

That sounds fun. As I had thought several days ago it's not like just because they are still running flights anybody can get there. Taliban controls all entrances. You'd' have to be fucking nuts to go to the airport now. They are evidently leaving with partially filled planes now, since few can get to the terminal.
As for the afghan army I saw a clip yesterday. It was only several minutes long but it was a couple of US soldiers training these guys and the afghanis acted like complete morons (the afghan regulars). They smoke up, can't get organized, don't give two shits. Apparently the afghan commandos (who are actually competent) represent 7% of the total armed forces but engage in 80% of the battles; in other words the real ANA of actual capable combat troops is in the mere tens of thousands.

It appears that the Taliban may have captured more of our helicopters than was previously reported. Some have said, "So...they can't fly them." Really? Bongino proposed that the Taliban could find the Afghans that we trained to fly vehicles and make them a simple proposition: "You will fly these vehicles for us or we will kill your entire family. Okay?"

I did not realize it was that close to kabul. I suppose if you consider that they truly, deeply, genuinely believed that Kabul would not fall this quickly it's no big thing. But, given what's going on now, it would be far better to evacuate from Bagram. it's far more defensible. They are now surrounded by taliban on all sides.
This evacuation is a huge cluster fuck and biden is the potus. But afghanistan as a whole has been a huge cluster by the USA. This entire afghanistan conflict is one of the biggest stains in US foreign policy ever, and all the potuses who oversaw it own varying degrees of that. This is such a national disgrace we cannot possibly blame just some limited number of people at the very top.
Absolutely. The Taliban can conscript anybody in the ana who has any skills with the equipment these cave dwellers don't have. You don't need to know how to fly as plane as long as you can point a gun at somebody who does.
Well they should be able to hold it against the Chinese when they come to "civilize and modernize" Afghanistan.
