So further update I contacted NYSP for some clarity and here it is; NYS Handgun licenses issued by upstate NY Counties (except NYC, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester) do not expire. Those licenses are good until revoked. NYS law requires that you recertify your handgun license every three years...

The issue is on my permit it states it expires at the end of October 2023 but I just received recertification from NYSP until 8/2026 I assumed that meant my permit was good until 8/2027 But now I am not so sure?

So this thread below is suggesting that the NYSP recertification process is meaningless and does not actually renew the actual permit??? If so, then I could be back to square one I wonder if there is anyone that I can actually speak to at the NYSP to clarify...
