10/22 Scope Mounts

I bough a 10/22 a while back and am just getting a chance to put on some glass. No scope mounts were included with the rifle when I got it. I have a Bushnell 40mm objective laying around that I bought from Midway.

I was thinking about a set of low rings mated to a Weaver TO-9 scope base.http://www.midwayusa.com/product/14...-off-weaver-style-scope-base-ruger-10-22-to-9

What did you guy's use and why?

That rail is a little dated. I would go with a picatinny style for more mounting flexibility. Something like this or others like it. MI-1022SM <br>Ruger 10-22 Scope Mount

I was thinking dove tail because of the little to no recoil but I see your point on flexibility.

UTG rail, and Low rings on a 3×9 Bushnell Banner scope. Yeah its cheap and Chinese bit its held up very well the last 5 years. It gets banged around a fair bit and everything has stayed tight and zeroed. I did locktite the rail down.

UTG isn't necessarily bad. I used a set of their rings on an air gun I own and it has held zero without any problems.

I have pretty much the same setup as above. Its simple, cheap, and it works. Actually I think those are medium height rings, UTG ones, scope works just fine at that height.

I decided to order a set of UTG low rings and a no name aluminum rail. I should have everything early this week.

Depending on the height of the rail and the diameter of the scopes objective low rings might be just shy on clearance. The rear sight is what'll cause problems if there are any.

I hear you but from what I've read the low rings should be good for a 40 mm objective. The UTG's are cheap enough that it won't break the bank if I have to get another set.

Fair enough, the obj. of my scope is 32mm and as you can see in the pic above there is a goodbammount of clearence withbthe medium rings. If you do need them I still have a perfectly normal check weld at that height.

Thanks for the pics and advice. It all depends on how the eye relief lays out. If you push the scope a little further forward you will have more clearance but everyone is different. Somehow I get the feeling this gun will not remain stock for very long. I'm already looking at a new barrel. I'll probably start another thread to discuss 10\22 mods.

Low rings will be fine,,,,,rear sight on a 10/22 folds down so that wouldnt cause any problems at all.

There are many mounts for the 10/22. You will find something based on these recommendations.

Now with a scope on your 10/22, You may find you will need a cheek rest? We come across this at Appleseed Shoots! The 10/22 factory stock slopes downward a bite and is more designed for open sights.
One other mod you may want to look into is the auto-bolt release ( all 3 of my 10/22's have this!) There are videos on You tube on how to do this or the part needed is not much$ !!
A great resource for anything rimfire is Rimfire Central, I go there a lot! real big on 10/22's

As for stocks, I really, really like that hogue overmolded stock I put on mine, lines me up on the scope just fine and the grip has a very comfy palm swell.

I thought about something like that but decided that adding a rail gave me more flexibility if I ever wanted to change the scope for a red dot.

it is Unbelievably simple, easiest scope mounting ever!
