Basically sight your rifle in early November. If it's a new rifle maybe you need a full box, so 20 rounds, but then how many deer are you taking? Even missing half of them because you're an awful shot and don't know where vitals are you're probably not out for more than 10 during the season.
I think 30-40 rounds max per year is plenty.

Or better yet just pick-up your state allowed rifle at said approved state armory for your daily hunting day but just make sure you return it before sundown to state approved armory

You know who uses a lot of ammo ? competition shooters.
You know who doesn't use much ammo ? criminals.
When the hoodrats do a drive by they have one magazine loaded with whatever mismatched crap they can find, and that's all they'll shoot all year.
When they knock over a liquor store, they're only shooting a few rounds.
On the plus side, when the fudds find out they need to save up all year for one round of trap they might finally wake up.

I gotta say that i think most gun shops love gun control, and threats of gun control as they make tons of money. If there were non of this nonsense people would never feel urgency to buy more guns and ammo.
Now, i dont know any gun shop owners personally to sayvthat this is fact, but ive articles where anonymous lgs have said this.
The vast majority of gun control is enforced by FFLs. Not to mention, nearly every gun store I’ve ever been to has added their own nonsense to make it worse. I’ve had gun stores in NY deny me all kids of sales because I’m from NYC. They don’t even want to talk to us.

This has nothing to do with hunting but this is their clever attempt to obfuscate what the 2A means and it's intent. They will loudly proclaim this has no affect on hunting and they support guns and hunting and blah blah blah. The reality couldn't be farther from the truth. They just want all the middle of the road people who aren't in to guns to grow confused by the issue and not view the politicians as being radical. They want to frame us as being radical when we respond with righteous frustration and anger at another infringement. They want to control the message and narrative.

Maybe they thought you were an anti 2A operative when you flashed your NYPD badge. Don't forget Bloomberg sent out undercover investigators around NY and out of state to get FFL's in trouble and file lawsuits, even got 2 of them within NYC arrested on bogus charges. There is also the precedent by Kathleen rice in Nassau County. No laws were broken but many were still falsely arrested. They could have been afraid of dealing with NYC or maybe they were just assholes in general.

Or maybe they just didn’t want to sell anything to a person of an organization who’s job it is to arrest someone else in his jurisdiction for buying or possessing the very thing he is trying to buy.
If I owned a shop, I wouldn’t sell anything to NYC law enforcement.

Regarding the FFL’s. They can’t sell you machine guns because someone will put them in jail for doing so. They fear going to jail. That’s why some of them er on the side of caution. If they didn’t fear someone putting them in jail, they’d sell you anything.
There is close to 150,000 FFL's in the United Sates.
Could you imagine if all of them banned together to show their support for the 2A and all decided not to follow the laws set forth?
