WTF, I get up to leave each morn and they are 50yrds at my front door under apple tree by driveway, I get in stand at DARK sit till 10:00am no deer, come home they are in field across from my apple tree GRRRRR. They read my book LOL, Gen. Patton LOL....
Had two does yesterday bedding and grooming each other about 70-80 yards from me all morning. I was going to take one, never got close enough. Hoping to take Thursday off and head back, otherwise it’s Saturday for me.

Not the buggest buck, but he is my first non-spike and I am on cloud 9.
Shot him at 0736. Found him at 1312. I was alone. The shot was about 3” back from ideal. Good blood for the most part but I lost it a few times and had to speak to 5 landowners, including the mayor/town chairman (unsure of your yokel titles
) to get permission to go onto his land and a bank owned property. Everyone I spoke to was accommodating and nice, including the two meth-heads in the trailer. Maybe I’ll send them some weed.

Was out this morning, had a nice 8 point come in. It had a choice of two trails, one was to the left 10 yards from me or to the right and put pine trees between us. Well he went to the right and that's why you aren't seeing any pictures. Hopefully he come back this afternoon!
That happened to me during firearms season in 2007 with what would have been my best deer by far. I had to make a choice of which trail to turn my back to and which to cover. Chose the wrong one. He came up behind me following a doe and she winded me before I was able to turn around.

Well, the bucks are mov'n and groove'n, their necks aren't all swold up yet and the does are having none of it, but they are in the mood!!!! saw five different bucks last evening, passed up two easy shots at an eight point and one Ugly effing rack I would say is at least a six, I came to full draw on it and thought they should issue cull permits to keep these inferior bucks from breeding, the eight pointer I also came to full draw on but thought, next year this deer will easily be a once in a life time trophy and let him pass, both were beautiful, probably 1-1/2 - 2-1/2 year old deer, just magnificent!!! I wanted to fill another DMP but the bucks kept them moving. Awesome night!!!!

Well, he wouldn't have been my best ever, but close!
Went out this evening, nothing, no movement, but still glad to be out. 39 degrees, very little wind. Can't wait to get back out!!!

Saw a couple babies, 1 slob of a doe (more like a horse), 1 smaller doe, and a monster 2 pointer tonight. Only had a shot at 1 baby throughout it all. Buck was a big body high wide thick fork and nada on other side. Had a scar right over shoulder, looks like someone skinned him early or last season...zero interest in the does still
So, my son goes out for the first time ever in Ohio on state game land. No scouting walks in in the dark, hooks up to a tree with a climber and waits for sun up. At 8:18 he texts "buck fight" at 8:24 he texted just shot at a huge buck" then "I can't find the arrow or blood" "wait I found blood and hair". This went on for a half hour, then " I jumped him he's bigger than I thought!" At 10ishI get this:

The crazy part was the buck it was fighting was just as big. While he was dragging this deer out, a doe went by him with 2 pretty big 8 pointers trotting passed him about 30 yards not even caring he was there.
I asked him if he was on public hunting land or a wildlife sanctuary. lol!

Coming back from the range about one this afternoon and there was a huge ten point, thirty-forty feet from the road just thrashing the ground with feet and antlers! I pulled over to watch and two more trucks pulled over, that deer looked up like, you want a piece of me? c'mon!! turned and walked away with a half a bushel of dead grass in his antlers! The Rut is on!!!
