Might as well get this thread started.

Licenses are on sale. Just did mine online. Picked up a DMP for 3M and 7S. If I can actually find a place to go this year around here, I'll pick up a couple more 3M's on the second round. I didn't see a single deer last year

Only took about a week to get the license in the mail. Either they're not busy yet because it's early or maybe too many fudds are scared of getting the Rona from the deer

I'll be on tracking duty if needed unless I find some hunting rounds for a recent acquisition.
I don't mind just being out in the woods.

I’ll do my license this week. I’m having trouble finding where I should do my DMP since there are none where I normally hunt. My mom and dad said the guy a cross from them has been seeing bucks around and we never do. Well I checked my game camera today and guess who showed up on it!! I’d sure be happy with this guy!! He comes back 2 hours later. Of course my phone wasn’t working to download the pictures so I of course moved this camera today because all I was seeing was a few doe.

FYI, for those who aren't aware yet, I received an email yesterday from DEC that big game hunting hours have changed from sunrise to sunset, to 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset, effective this season. This is a long overdue change I welcome.

Let's keep it safe out there!

I’ve got tags for 3M and 3J myself. I’ve already scouted my secret spots for next week. I’m pretty excited, but the most I’ll get is probably west-Nile virus. Mosquitoes are pretty bad from the rain and does will smell bug repellent a half a mile away.

We’re a week into September and squirrel are pretty bad. I’ve managed to bag one. She’s a blackish grey without to sense to run away. She just sat there an looked at me while I aimed a shotgun. But, the Stoeger Condor O/U 20 gauge has first blood.

Went out yesterday for a little 4 mile stroll up on the ridge. Saw one mama with cub trotting away from me and jumped a nice 8 that was hanging with two smaller fellows. A shit ton of gnats :rolleyes: cut a large set of fairly large bear tracks near a spring. All and all I was hiking more than hunting it was a little to warm to mentally get into it. I did catch a nice nap when I got home so…

I agree shooting a deer in 70 degree weather would stress me out.

It was first blood for the Ruger American Rimfire 22LR “Go Wild” this morning.

I found a hive of squirrel along an abandoned road by some primitive campsites inside a state forest west of Kingston.

I bagged two between 7 and 8 AM. Both from standing off-hand at about 15 yards.

A passing shower just after 8 AM out the damper on things and I saw no sign after that.

All I know is the nut crop is heavy this year. My hickory trees are loaded. About roll an ankle walking in my yard

Got the new crossbow, just ordered broad heads, should be here soon.

Bought some salt blocks and bags of corn.

New memory cards and set up the trail cams.

Should be able to kill a couple this year.

How the hell did you get two 9p doe tags? They are scarce as gold nuggests out west? They even said with 2-3 PP you may not get one. Good for you I’m jealous. I got denied!!
