Paloma Capanna is doing great work and deserves respect and support. I have read her website and a fair number of things she has accomplished with regards to UnSafe, and have absolutely nothing bad to say about her. She seems to be a very fine attorney from the information I have discovered about her career and person.

However, I believe she made her name in family law. I don't believe she claims to be a constitutional lawyer or an expert on the 2A, and I do know for a fact that she does not handle criminal matters that might result from UnSafe.

Just an FYI, and if I am wrong in any of my facts about Ms. Capanna, I apologize ahead of time.

Don't know Tresmonds personally, but I do know from experience of handling three firearm civil rights cases in Federal Court on Long Island, that the deck is stacked against you. What seems obvious to us in the Heller and McDonald decisions seems to elude many others including county attorneys, judges and their law clerks, politicians, police etc. In the end you will get no relief in the State Courts at all and appeals from the US District Courts go to the Second Circuit. You know the mental gymnastics they engage in to misread and intentionally fail to understand and evade Supreme Court cases. Even if you prevail in the District Court, the gov't will appeal to the 2nd, then you loose. It will stay this way in NY until the Supreme Court steps in to correct the situation. Will they ever, who knows?

I never understood the animosity for Shooter, or the Tresmonds. They were on the right side of the fight, so what if their confidence exceeded their ability.

Interesting and fair perspective, and caused me to revisit why I was annoyed with them. What you say is the truth, but what bugged me then and still does is the "boy just wait until <some date> and you guys are really going to be amazed" posts that kept coming and coming. A lot of promises and grandstanding. If you are going to brag and promise but not deliver (like they did), and your confidence exceeds your ability, then you deserve the disdain you get.

My thing is the way they just left. Why not an explanation saying that they tried X but ran into Y. Because they ran into Y, they couldn't get into Z.

But no. They just left after telling people to hold on to their magazines and not to replace their muzzle devices. They never even updated the thread about the guy who got caught with the ARmaglock / MR2.

I am not going to say they were perfect, but the animosity toward them ramped up long before they left. I can't blame them.

I remember people being ridiculed for even having hope that these guys might be onto something. I can't say I blame them for leaving. It wasn't abrupt, more of a slow reduction in the frequency of updates, and since every update had a dozen posts about how stupid anyone who supported them was I'm surprised they stayed as long as they did.

Remember, they owe us nothing, and they put far more effort into the fight than their critics ever did.

I became friendly with Shooter. His side was that he wanted to do the right things and the Tresmond's screwed him. I was going to be in the lawsuit. I was in touch with Aquadoc and Max Tresmond who both dropped off the face of the earth. Shooter was spending so much time with this issue his law practice was suffering greatly and then at the same time he was taking care of his mother who received a cancer diagnosis. I hold no bad feeling for him. The Tresmonds, that's another story.

I hold no animosity towards Shooter. He genuinely seemed like he wanted to do the right thing, but I think he got in over his head. He even helped me out with a minor issue, and I'm grateful for that.

Tresmonds, on the other hand, can EAD. Long on promises and short on results, they simply sought to capitalize on the anti-SAFE furor. All they wanted was to line their own pockets. They were never on the right side of the fight.

In my mind, Shooter and Tresmonds are two separate entities even though they worked together for a brief time. He was just as much a victim of Tresmonds predatory behavior as the clients whom they screwed directly.

I was recently wondering how Shooter was doing. I have no bad feelings for the guy, he hada lot on his plate as far as I know. I truly believe that he our best interests in mind, but overstated his ability to defend us. I would welcome him back here. Tresmonds . . . I don't know about them. I believe that we do have an employee of them here on this forum but I don't want to "out" him. Once again, we are fighting an uphill battle with unSAFE . . . More like climbing a mountain.

USCCA seems to be gaining more traction lately. I have yet to take the jump to get insurance so good luck and let us know what you do.

USCCA only covers you in an actual self defense situation, not other civil actions.
