I bought a new Marlin 336 30-30 about a year ago.(?) Seems well made, shoots well. I was going to buy another when I saw one at walmart for about $360. They only had one, when I asked the clerk about it the young guy in line behind me groaned that gun was why he was there. I stepped away and wished him good luck with it.

I'd go with a marlin over the Henry. I have a Henry .22 and I'm honestly not very impressed.

Ditto, got mine in 1982. it's killed a few deer, a couple rabbits, and multiple porcupines. I put a Tasco 2-10-40mm scope on it and I use Hornady FTX 160gr projectiles. I't pretty good out to 150 yards

I'm not sure what John Wayne's rifle was chambered in. I was just saying that a lever gun brings back those memories. I have 'em in;
30-30, .45lc, and multiple .22s. I just love a lever action.
I know Savage also made a .30-.30 pump rifle as well, there may be others.

Something about the look of the 94 is ugly to me. I just don’t like the lines and the butt stock. I recently acquired a 336 in .30-30 for FREE . It was made in 1955 and was clearly barely used. I don’t plan to hunt with it, but I’ll probably use it to lend to others who don’t own guns so they can hunt with me. It’s common if you live around NYC to have friends/family who’ve been through hunter safety courses but don’t own guns.
As for other levers I also have a Winchester 94 Golden Spike .30-30 and a Marlin 1985 .45-70 which I DEFINITELY plan to hunt with, maybe even this year on opening day.

Hmmm, no one seemed to mention Mossberg?
Levers are new to me, so after researching around..... I settled upon the Mossberg 464. So far so good, now I have to scope it. Seems like a decent rifle, light, well balanced, Williams fiber optic sights, Mossberg's marinekote finish. Time will tell....

always wanted a lever gun. thinking santa is gonna bring one. a marlin most likely in .30.30 something about em just seems neat.
I need to see what the different designations are thought like not sure what the marlin 336C is but will look it up.

I️ just bought a 1960’s marlin 30-30. It’s not tapped for a scop and it shoots great.
