I alao shot a deer at a similar distance that day with a 5.7 carbine using blue tip 40gr. Same results. Same hole size. I recovered 37 grains if that bullet. (I was cleaning the 5.7 kill when the buck walked up. The carbine was outta reach so he got killed with my 1911)

The values at the muzzle and controlled ballistics tests mean little.
Real life scenarios, real barriers, real tactics and good shooting training are far more important than bullet choices.
Modern tactics call for options that allow higher fire power per magazine, ie: 9mm, 57FN, 357SIG, 40 cal.
Slow and heavy has it places IMO with a super short barrel setup where one might trade grain for speed.
But the round count/firepower is more important IMO. That is why so many and specially elite units use them.

WWII veterans, Some other veterans, muscle car and Harley riders and many senior citizens should choose the 45. 357 short revolvers are also ok.
Some Vietnam Vets, retired traffic cops, retired IRS or immigration officers, Volkswagen enthusiasts, those should choose the 9mm.
House wives, Metro trendy people, sports illustrated, (no hipsters) should go for the 38 acp.
Retired Navy seals, CIA, ski jumpers, bounty hunters, etc.. should go with 357 SIG.
Young kids who like fast Japanese bikes and cars should use the 57.
40 caliber for the Buddhist people or if you have ADD / ADHD
Oh, and cape buffalo hunters stick to the 500 s&w.

In a state that only allows 10 things start to even up when you look at firepower per mag. If a person wants a do it all gun in this state I think the .45 smc/acp is a good option. Everything from carry to night stand to the deer woods. I’m impressed with the 160 and 185 grains. The 255 swc would be my choice for deer.

A do it all can also be a 9mm gun or a 10mm. It is all relative.
Why not 357 SIG or even 9x25? Easier to shoot, faster, more power, more penetration, cheaper bullets, etc...

Because I like 255 gr swc for deer to be honest. I don't want to hunt with a 9mm or 357 sig. The 9x25 is far from easy to shoot or cheap . The blast will rattle your teeth. It's the only one you listed that has "more power" than the 450 smc or super.

ok. that is a good use for it. the 357 magnum will also be very good for deer from a pistol or a small lever action even better.
The 357 SIG is a 357 magnum for a compact pistol but if hunting is the primary objective the 35 caliber with the 357 magnum, maximum
or even 35rem will benefit from the better ballistics over distance like for example the 180gr FTX and 200gr SST.
Same thing with the 450 caliber. The only way to really benefit ballistically is in the super magnums and impossible grains design only for
the largest animals like 450 and 500 gr bullets. Even many of those has worse ballistics than a 200gr 35 caliber but the grain is needed
for a cape buffalo.
For a deer this is negligible as the whole thing should be design for proper killing no matter what choice.
One might like a caliber better for whatever reasons, historic, tradition, or whatever, and that is also very important.
Comparing is just pointless at this point. when someone doesn't care choosing brand new then that is one thing but if one
has several guns in one caliber and wants to keep everything in the same bore for consolidation that is also a good reason.
Otherwise comparatives for the sake of it is kind of a boring point. ( Sarcasm and humor aside)
With all that said the 9x25 can be also twicked from compact pistol to a long gun wth extra freebore to fulfill the deeds of
the mighty 35R.

Will won't let me use a 450 or .45 super. ACP only. I want a semi auto deer pistol. I already have some .45's so I went cheap and converted one. I was thinking of a 10mm but I'm going cheap and not getting a new gun yet.

If you are looking for one caliber, the 10mm is a do all caliber. It can be loaded heavy and slow for deep penetration for the woods on tissue and light and fast for combat/defense for hard barriers. The .45 in the ACP variety fails for the barrier penetration needed in combat/defense when the need arises.
But people don't like to hear that because once they choose a caliber, they get butt hurt when facts come out and deflect the facts by claiming internet backyard nonsense. It's an obvious defense mechanism and sad really. Science is science. I once too thought the ACP was the end all until I actually learned something.

Science is science? Back yard videos are not really controlled experiments. That being said the .45 smc outperforms the 10mm. It can be shot from any +p rated .45 acp according to double tap (but I did some modification to mine). Best cartridge ever in the best caliber Will. Get with the program.

If x bullet penetrates y amount of steel and z bullet fails that same y amount of steel, the experiment is valid no matter where it's shot or what avenue it was filmed with. It's still science to a point.
As far as one caliber over another, at a certain point it's only numbers for an ego. A 220 gr 10mm will do the exact same job on a bear or moose as a 255 gr SMC. More so when puny deer are involved.
That's like saying a 30.06 does a better job on a skinny coyote than a .308. They'll both penetrate and over penetrate with SWC or Hard Cast equally. One will just go a tad bit further after it exits.

.05 of an inch or 1.27 millimeters larger if that make anyone feel better. 1,270,000 nanometers to make someone feel even better. Whether that makes any difference when it goes through a vital is for the deer to decide.
In the past, a few brown bear didn't care. Some even called it quits at .355.

One thing one might keep in mind is that the most popular calibers tend to be the most efficient in terms
of case volume to bore & bore volume ratio for compact pistols and such.
In other words, bigger bore optimizes with larger bullets and therefore larger pistols that are not practical.
Still good options but one has to then compound the actual firepower. In some instances a super short barrel
might benefit for some extra grain achieved with a larger bore. If one cannot produce speed then send some
grain.
11 rounds is not the ideal but better than 8, and 8 better than 5 and obviously 5 better than one or 2 or a muzzle loader.
If one likes a pistol and a round for tradition, design or historical reasons that is one thing but once one gets passed
that then one is looking at a modern pistol with popular rounds shooting modern ammo. Kind of a utility tool that produces
effective firepower. That is the way those who use them and train constantly with them using modern tactics see them.
