I've never given much thought to a 5.7 pistol especially in the people's republic you can't take advantage of the awesome capacity but they sure do seem fun.

I think the grip size is the biggest downside for 5.7 in a pistol.

Every so often I think I want one until I weigh all the downsides.
-In NY you miss out on its #1 selling point, IMO, the capacity.
-Ammo is very expensive, and I don't like handloading large quantities of bottlenecked cartridges.
-Without tons of ammo in every mag, it doesn't do anything another gun I already own doesn't do better.
My only justification is "man that looks fun to shoot." That's reason enough to own one, but being the only reason puts it right near the bottom of my firearms wish list.

The 5.7 is a very cool round but really of minimal practical use to civilians. To get the most utility of the 5.7x28 you need the AP variety and a full auto gun to shoot them with.
The only purpose of a 5.7 pistol is to be paired up with a carbine/PDW in 5.7.
For the price of the ammo I think one would get more entertainment from a 10mm.

I'm not sure if I've ever held one, but that would probably be a benefit for me personally. I still don't particularly want one though; for all the reasons mentioned already.
Only 5.7 I've fired was from a PS90 (16" barrel, semi-auto civi version, not mine). For expensive as it is, I didn't especially like it. It was a long time ago now, but I rememeber not liking the weird ergos and, if I recall correctly, the trigger was horrid.

Well one could also have a TT34 or a S&W M350. Both of these are able to easily penetrate soft body armor.
