WTB 6.5 Arisaka Type 38

This is a stretch. Looking for a 6.5 Arisaka Type 38. Hoping someone has one with a Mum and no import markings. Im Westchester but travel to Rochester and Buffalo frequently. Figured Id check here before going to GunBroker or getting robbed at Middletown gun show.

Dude! There are two Arisakas in the Buffalo Cabelas right now!! Don't know if they are 6.5s though. Funny that you just posted this right after I was through there, saw them and thought "cool, they have Arisakas here".
They also had several Springfield trapdoor rifles which I also thought was cool.

I know a guy, who was selling an Arisaka Type 99, converted to 30-06 (by the US Gov.). The mum is ground off, but the Japanese writing is quite clear.

I have a Type 99. Series 7 Nagoya. Full mum, all matching #'s. Bubba got a hold of the stock though. 1 box of PCI ammo.

Ive got a beautiful type 99 already and looking for the 38 to match it so shes got a sister. If you guus ever wanna part with 7.7mm ammo Id be happy to buy that off you though.

Collector Ammo in Hopewell Jct has it. PCI (Precision Cartridge). I think it was $32/box. Look at gunboards.com. Probably something listed there for a 38. Collector had a couple 99's but wants too much for them. Wallkill River small arms often has a lot of older stuff at decent prices. Might give him a call.

This actually turned out pretty great. I never heard of Collector Ammo. That Joe Salter website has some crazy stuff on there. Never seen ww2 items with actual bring back receipts before.

Figured I'd check here first and it paid off.

WW2 Japanese Carbine Type 38 (Double Zero Prefix)

Way too much $ for that. The "00" before the serial number means that it was a regular army reject and sent to a school for training purposes.

I picked up my Type 99 locally from a guy I met through work. Had I known how hard it was going to be to find a correct stock for it, I might have reconsidered. But it does have full mum and all matching numbers. Next trip to the range I'll shoot it.

The chrysanthemum was crossed out. At the end of WW II, Russia crossed out the mums because they are superstitious idiots. Cross-outs aren't worth shit. I might part with my Arisaka if I don't do a full furniture restoration on it soon. It's not on my list of things to do this year so I might ditch it. Mum is perfect - it's a WW II bring-back. I'll want a shit ton more than that cross-out though. I'll probably want about $1.5K for it.

What's wrong with your furniture? I restore mine by hand. I take the furniture off the weapon and first I scrub off the cosmoline and other crap with a sponge and Palmolive dish soap. Then I use PAM (the oven cleaner) and a tooth brush. Then i scrub it with 00 steel wool. Once I find the marks I want to raise, I do that with a face cloth and an iron. Once it's as good as I'm gonna get it, I sand with those green 3M scrubbies, and finish it with Olde English wood oil. Then put it all back together. Here's how one of my C&R's look when I'm done:

Bubba got to it and cut it down and sanded it. The 7th series Nagoya had several different variations depending on serial number. So I'm having a hard time finding the right one. I found one that was all correct except for one detail.
