Where are you guys getting your non threaded ar15 barrels from besides Palmetto? Doing a custom build on a Fightlite SCR receiver and I need one to be NY compliant.
Green mountain barrels has a 19 inch 1-6 twist non threaded
I went with this barrel on @dsdmmat recommendation and I am happy with, plus I caught it on sale for $30.00 off!
Another thing I will recommend, I put a Troy Industries ambi mag release on mine just push out the roll pin and flip the button.

I built an SCR using a Ballistic Advantage.
I have put a few hundred through both of the guns with this barrel installed and am very pleased with the sub MOA performance. How many rounds did you put through it? Green Mountain barrels from what I have read have been sub-par.
You can also order a barrel from McGowen precision barrels
I looked on their page and the only non threaded barrels they have are bull barrels and I do not want a bull barrel. If it's a cheap shooter, BCA may suffice.
I bet JSE surplus has some YHM barrels. My YHM 20" non threaded has been great.
Send me a 18" threaded barrel and a couple bucks, and I send you back a 17" Nonthreaded Barrel with a beautiful 11degree Target crown.
I want a 16" barrel and the money I spend on shipping it to you and having you do the work is not worth the money to invest into a cheap barrel. I will find one. Worst case scenario, I will just buy a normal barrel and pin and weld a thread protector on it myself but I rather have the look of a non threaded barrel. Thanks for the offer though.
I do not want a heavy or a bull barrel. This gun is just for fun and I do not need sub moa results. If I were to build and actual target gun, it will be on an AR platform and not on a SCR lower.16.5" OL or 16" measured from the shank? you want at least a midlength porting job.
This is a good way to go IMO... Match Grade Barrel | .223 Wylde | Urban Super Sniper | 18"-https://shopwilsoncombat.com/
Also Lothar walter will cut you one very nicely polygonal and not cheap but also not too expensive.
you can also get a 18" stoner (very well priced through midway ) that are douglas barrels and just have it cut and crowned that is
a very quick job.
If the threads are 5/8 why not stick a pinned sleeve? if well done one cannot tell the difference (flush with the barrel)
and it is actually better than crowning for several reasons.
No need to weld anything. A blind pin on the actual join (not the threads like some hack gunsmiths do) is a permanent way
of doing it w/o screwing with the minor diameter of the barrel.
