When I was making guns in NY. I would either use my ghost gunner and an engraving program, stamp set or an engraving pen to mark the guns I made. All my homemade handguns were put on my license with me as the manufacturer and a serial number of my choosing with the caliber. My rifles just had name, town, serial number and model on them Example: Dsdmmat, anytown, NY, serial number: yougetthedrill01, model: whatever I decided to call it

Since the untraceable receiver act has passed making possession of an unserialized receiver illegal, if you are in possession of a rifle you made without one it has to be marked. The law requires gunsmiths to serialize guns they make but does not have any guidance for those who are in possession of guns they already made. So you have three choices, find an engraver with an FFL to engrave your homemade firearm, engrave it yourself or destroy it If you want to remain legal. If you don’t care then you don’t have to do anything.

$10 for as many as you can serialize until you wear out the F, the U, the A or the C

Well, if I engrave a serial number on it and by all other measures it is legal ( think SAFE ACT), and not a pistol, why should I register it.

Because the government told you to do so and it’s no longer legal!! This new law says you need to have a gunsmith out it in a database or something. That’s all I got, carry on and boating accidents happen or something like that.
