You see this is the problem with this forum. I already have a long list of toys on the wish list that I doubt I will ever be able to buy. Now you show me this! I need to win the damn lottery. Needless to say I better get that Dillon 650 before I ever consider buying one of those.

I like the gun. My favorite caliber as well. At the risk of getting flamed, I have to say it.

23. "Large capacity ammunition feeding device" means a magazine, belt,
drum, feed strip, or similar device, that (a) has a capacity of, or that
can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than ten rounds of
ammunition, or

A belt can be easily converted. You just add another link. So while the gun itself is 1000 percent legal, the belt you load it with is not.

A belt can be easily converted. You just add another link. So while the gun itself is 1000 percent legal, the belt you load it with is not.

Either individual links without ammo are forbidden, or 10rnd belts are OK.

I'm not saying NY wouldn't try to claim the former.

dont hate me for this question but i thought you were not allowed to own more the 10 belt pieces if they can connect to each other. Or do u just have to be sure they are all seperate at all times?

I respectfully disagree. That 10 rd belt can readily accept a single round all the way up to as many rounds you can link up together given the time and funds.

I don't see how anyone can dispute that. Metal Linked Belts are infinite. There is absolutely no way possible to limit them to 10 rounds where another link cannot be readily added.

It's not even a grey area.

You could clip the tang off of the last link. If you did this assembled you would not be in able to link another round without changing out the limiting link. Does this past muster with the courts? IDK and frankly don't care.

You can link another one from the other end. That end accepts a regular link. You can also remove the link that you clipped the tab off on and now you are back at square one.

It's impossible to limit.

You could clip the other side off a link and put on that side also. Once again so you would have to remove the dummy links and replace them with new links in order to make and illegal belt.

I think this falls in line with the Hexagon 10/30 magazines. You can disassemble them and install new guts to get a 30 round mag.

I'm not following you. One side has a tab and the other side doesn't. So if you clip off the tab from your 10 round link, another link can always be added on the non tabbed side.

The key words are "Readily" and "Accept". There is no way around those words.

With a Hex, you need new parts. That's not the case with a belt. One extra link can always be added.

Define "Readily", I think yours and mine differs here. If you look at the links both sides have tabs. One has 2 and the other has 1. You could essentially make a one sided dummy links to put on either side of the 10 round belt. Doing this would essentially require you to physically remove parts from the belt and add ne parts in order to make an illegal feeding device.

Like I stated before there are other feeding devices on the market that are accepted as legal, but can be made illegal just by swapping out internal parts. All I'm saying is this is kind of the same thing. Is it back and white the same thing... no, but it is very similar.

If you are under the belief that by linking 10 rounds together makes an illegal configuration, then just owning the links and 9mm ammo would be illegal too? I'm just curious on what your thinking here. Notice I haven't said your wrong, because honestly I'm on the fence of the legality here. I see both sides and am more than happy arguing both sides to see what comes from it.

Anyone can play with the word "Readily". You can also just put a piece of wood in a 30 rounder. The fact of the matter is that no matter what your interpretation is, you have to be willing to defend it at a cost of money, time, and freedom.

I think you are confused on how the non tabbed end of the belt works. There is nothing to file off. It's a naked round clipped onto a link. Another link can always be attached to that naked round. It requires a thumb and another finger to attach another round in one second.

Now assuming your interpretation about dummy links is accepted, the minute you fire one round, you are back to square one.

As far as your last question goes, that is up to a jury. My opinion doesn't matter.

Not really. Even if you were allowed FA and 1000 round belts in NY, you don't have to keep the FM-9 running constantly. Some intermittent bursts of power from time to time will do. Good luck with that in a helicopter!
