A No Go for Tier 5 Solutions Modified Bolt Catch

I just received this email from Tier 5 Solutions. Looks like although many bolt stops have been sold and many complete rifles have been sold with this device installed at gun stores, some Trooper in an office has unofficially told the company that their product is no good but wouldn't commit to putting out down officially on paper.

I about heard this at my range today. A bunch of guys are pissed because they just put single shot pistols on their permits. No one's sure what to do at this point but wait and see. The same shit happen not too long ago with the so called letter Dark Stain had. It wound up being a whole lot of nothing.

Soooooo ..... when has the NYSP become a legislative and judicial branch of a govt?? They enforce laws correct?? Not make them last I knew. This is a matter far above the NYSP's heads. I have MANY NYSP tell me that it's perfectly legal for someone with a pistol permit to hand that weapon to someone who doesn't and allow them to fire it. Are they right? Last I knew, that was a big no no.

They (DSI) claimed they had a letter coming Stating their product was the only one legal. They were trying to scare people away from everything else for their own bottom line. Tier 5 is warning their customers some overzealous trooper is making law by his words but too cowardly to put it in writing.

Yup. True. The person without the permit does not “posses” it.

You need a permit for “possession”.

Start the interweb wars......but the DA said a non permit holder can handle pistols in my shop. No problem. Again, they are not “possessing” the pistol.

Fight on. Call the DA.
