A scarce resource cannot be a right.

Healthcare is essentially someone else's labor. You never have a right to someone else's labor.

Rights can only ever be things that exist in unlimited quantity. Anything that is a scarce resource requires rationing in some manner. You cannot ration a right without infringing on it.

If healthcare is a right, what about food ? or shelter ? both are far more fundamental needs than healthcare.

I’m not in favor of public health care, but it sure as fuck can’t happen while we are playing world police on the taxpayers dime. Our foreign policy is too expensive. These countries (South Korea is another example) are able to implement these things because we keep the world stable enough for them to dump huge portions of their budgets into health care instead of denfense. I’ve done the math on the bill currently floating around NY state house. It would basically double my monthly healthcare bill. The difference in the increase in taxes is greater than the amount I currently pay per month.
Why would I want to move to a plan that has me paying more for equal or lesser quality? No fucking thanks

Either it's taxpayer funded, or it's payed for by the participants directly.

You'll get no argument that our system is broken, just that getting more government involved will make it worse.

The reason our system is broken is due to regulatory capture.

The insurance companies have gotten government to regulate them into little private government enforced monopolies. A "government takeover" of them would just complete that process. You would have the same people making the same decisions, just with a government paycheck and even less accountability.

What we need are all the rules that create these little fiefdoms to go away. We need competition in the market.

Here’s an idea move to Germany then. I’ll even pitch in $20 for your plane ticket. Houses are extremely expensive and most people in Germany don’t own homes and BMW’s in Germany are like chevy’s here.

Well, I lived there for nearly a year and a half... I spoke with and became friends with quite of few Germans; I heard the exact opposite from most that I spoke with.
