Adam Toledo: Chicago police release video of officer shooting boy
Bodycam footage shows an officer shouting "drop it" before fatally shooting Adam Toledo in the chest.www.bbc.com
I, 100%, blame the dead kid.
I dont completely agree with this.I don’t blame the officer but a 13 year old dead is a tragedy anyway you cut it.
Look some older piece of shit gang member gave him the gun and told him to do this and that’s who should be in the ground. The 13 year old should have had his milk and cookies and been in bed. The mom is to blame as well.
In the story it was the 21 year old shooting at cars, and Ill assume he gave the gun to the 13 year old when he heard sirens.I dont completely agree with this.
There are 13 year old kids out there that would blow your mind with the amount of violence within them.
Their age is exactly why they can be so violent. They are very impressionable and rarely think about consequences. They have no experience with the real world and their only goal in life is to be "cool". Kids under 20 kill a lot of people in this country....a shocking number of people. They are also more likely to thrill kill.....like this kid randomly shooting at passing cars. They have not been alive long enough to learn consequences.
I agree whoever gave him the gun is partly at fault but his parent hold some blame too. But, he was old enough to know he was doing wrong and for that he deserved what he got.
We also need to remember these kids have one of three types of parents.... Some at more fault than the others.
His parents could be the negligent type, who dont pay attention or even care what hes doing and maybe even participate in his hoodlum lifestyle.
Then his parents could be the type who have tried everything but chaining him to a radiator in his bedroom. They may have had him in counseling, boot camps and other programs for unruly kids.
Or, his parents may be completely shocked. This kid may have had an almost double life. He may have been a good kid around his parents but a hoodlum around his friends. I knew kids like this growing up and know that you cannot completely blame the parents for not knowing or paying attention..... some kids are very good at this.

Its a shame. Where are this kids parents? That 21 year old should be charged with felony murder.
Im not sure what to make of it yet, but the kid obviously didnt want to be caught with a gun in his hand. Regardless of anything all we are going to see is a picture with the kids hands up, flashlight on him, and that the officer shot him. The context of the chase, reason for being there in the first place, and split second timing will not be looked at in the eyes of the public.
Who uses a strobe on their weapon light?
His parents/etc are to blame. Who lets a 13 yr old out that late?
Many cops do. I have a couple in my collection.
Can be very disorienting.
I get that, we are in a screwed up world and we are more isolated from alot of the evils that take place being here rather than in some 3rd world craphole. I still think its too bad when someone so young loses their life.Sorry, this is the norm. Normal, everyday Americans? This question of where are the parents would seem appropriate, but...
This, having a 13 yo out at this hour with a gun, is a normal thing in some community circles.
Very common occurance, especially in the inner city.
I think in this case the body cam did put you in the moment. To me it proves the cop was justified in his actions. However there are people that will not see it this way no matter what the videos show.13 or 80...
A gun in hand represents a threat, period! And until that threat is eliminated the officer has no duty to let down his guard and not protect himself. And that doesn't mean allowing someone the first shot either! The mentality out there is ridiculous! I just don't get it ...
It's always the same! When the loser, well, loses, it's everyone else's fault! What bullshit...
So here, the kid knew exactly what he was doing, and at the last minute he thought he was going to be smarter than anyone... But he wasn't, and most criminals aren't! And this may be a clear case too why those body cams don't always help, because the after event scrutiny in frame by frame exam doesn't put you in the moment! It's easy to judge from the comfort of the armchair!
This is a prime example for Americans to wake the hell up.
These types of people are everywhere, we are surrounded by this evil and violence.
Society is not your friend.
I'm telling you man, best decision you can make is to live where the busses don't run. Public transportation imports criminals to your neighborhood.
CBS splices gun in Adam Toledo's hand out of police shooting video (noqreport.com)
They intentionally edited out the part of the video that shows a gun in Toledo’s hand just prior to being shot. We know it was intentional because the rest of the video edit kept Toledo in best view, but the split second in which the gun can be seen, they conveniently pulled the edit to the left to keep him hidden before panning back to show him getting shot.
