Aguila Ammo

Anyone familiar with this brand. Just ordered 5 boxes of .357 SJSP 158 gr.
I was looking for some hot ammo and the specs are around 1465 FPS and 838 ft-lbs of energy.
Seems like a decent self defense round since it is used for LEO down mexico way.

I'm familiar with the .22 from my kids rifle team days. Specific .22 competition ammo. High quality. Primer-powder ignition smelled like super glue at the inside range. No problems, I'd like to order some for sporter rifle but Andy screwed that up.

I've used 115 gr FMJ 9mm and the only complaint is I found it a bit dirtier than other similar priced range ammo.

Only have experience with their .22 LR. No problems with it whatsoever.

Buffalo Bore doesn't even get that hot. And your math doesn't work out.

Not my math and many sites quote the same ballistics that's why I was asking

I like their powderless and low powder .22 rounds. I've shot one of their 9mm offerings as well. Everything has been fine.

Like I said those numbers are on a few sites selling the ammo including the Aguila website. Punching those numbers in a ballistics calculator is it going to prove anything to me.

Darth honestly I wish I had the means to be able to test my specific revolver.
I am fortunate enough to be able to just walk out back and shoot all I want so I don't need to belong to any gun club. But on the flipside belonging to a gun club is where you can learn a great many things.

But what I am saying is that the velocity listed, times the weight listed, doesn't equal the quoted energy. Regardless of the gun it's fired in. Do you have a link to the ammo in question?

Sure here it is. They state the velocity is 1545fps whereas I wrote 1465fps. Curious is this the cause of the discrepancy.

That would be it. And damn, that ammo is HOT.

Exactly. Always considered Cor-Bon the hottest other than hand loads. Never gave this ammo second thought. I can rapid fire and empty my SP101 .357 with any ammo I have shot so far. Curious to see how this stuff feels.

I load for my Coonan's (my avatar is one of them) and they need a very hot load to function! These seem like they would really pack a wallop, even in those guns!

It is. I have some, as well as the SP 101. No problems with it, though, and I won't hesitate to buy the same brand in different calibers.

I keep the SP 101 loaded with this for hikes through the woods, but target practice gets a lighter load .357, or usually some PMC .38's.

After some research I come to find out that privilege parizan (PPU) .357 are rated even higher. A158gr SJHP Rated at 1608 fps and 907 Ft lbs. Hard to find though.

You're making me wish I were in PA right now. I've got four different brands for the SP; it's what the guy who did the FFL paperwork had on hand. I'll be damned if I can remember details - other than the hand-breaker Aguila's. Sad when you're curious about your own ammo. We're stuck here for the next 6-8 weeks, though, until the boys' football season ends. Nice thing about fall is that my summer projects are done and I might be able to actually do some shooting.

Shot 100 rounds of PPU 158gr SJHP from my SP101 snubby. These rounds are hot and loud. The hottest rounds I have shot to date in .357 rated at 1608 fps and 907 Ft lbs.
Felt the kick like my .41mag. Think I found my new carry ammo. Wish someone could chrono these out of a 2.25" barrel.

It's been my go to brand for few years now for several if my rifles and pistols the .22 copper 40gr always goes straight and true and still 50$ a brick(yea woooopie,cheap for 2016 though) and I use the 71gr for my Beretta 32 Auto, also never an issue.
