  • My older boy just broke his other thumb.

Duct tape and Popsicle sticks. He'll think twice before breaking anything else.

Both times it’s actually been the growth plate moving out of position. This time the plate chipped the bone above it. He just has to stop growing so darn fast. Barely 13 and over 5’ 8” so far.

Oh I can sympathize. I went through an incredible growth spurt around that age too. Painful, especially in my Achilles tendons which hadn't grown enough to keep up and were under a lot of strain.
Getting ready to start my 23rd consecutive, 10+ hour work day. Life sucks. #I'dratherbeplumbing

Sorry for what? I like my new job. I am home everyday and off on the weekends now. My work week is down to around 50 hours from 70.

Ah, ok. I thought you weren’t loving the new job, but then I’ve been so busy that I haven’t kept up. I did have Saturday off, but then spent it cleaning and manning the snack shack for football, so I should stop bitching, lol.

I got a new job two weeks ago, paid hourly so delays earn me money instead of costing me money. Takes all the stress away as do the easy routes.
But if anyone has a right to bitch it's you. Got a lot of stuff on your plate.
Son #2 is down with a fever, and son #1 broke his thumb - two days after our insurance ended. F'in Murphy!!!

The benefit of hubby being out of work for over a year is that at least we qualify for mooch status and free healthcare insurance (CHIP) for the kids. Problem is, he didn't sign us up because he doesn't want to be a mooch.

It's not mooching if you paid your dues into the system and don't plan on staying on it. It's the people that have no sense of pride, and just want to take from it, that are the problem.
    Bagpipes are very loud.

Why is it I'm always making women cry ? (kidding.. mostly)
Seriously though, no I don't play (not bagpipes anyway) but I'd always sort of wished I did. I do recall I bought a cheapo set back when I was in high school but never really figured out how to.. make them go.

Of course that was long before there was an internet and youtube.
I'm fairly certain it would not bode well for my romantic life were I to dare try again now... she REALLY hates them.
That said, your daughter giving it a go is totally badass ! (Of course you get lots of badass points too for what hellish cacophonies you'll have to endure to let her be the badass she wants to be in this case)

Been to a few 2 day Scottish festivals over the years. Traditional bagpipes and bagpipe-rock bands. Love em. 0% Scottish blood as far as I know.
Daughter's Venturing Crew invited to go shooting at RTSP in Union, NJ. Not just .22 rifles, but handguns. Good on Patriot's Path Council!

It's still part of Boy Scouts, but no Eagle project and no merit badges. All the fun, with less than half the work.

My Brother and both his boys are very involved with Scouting. I asked my brother about the troubles the organization is having. He tells me that his local chapter is fiscally and organizationally able to split off and do their own thing if necessary.
An amazingly great winter camping trip this weekend with the girls Venture Crew. Boy Scout trip at same camp next weekend.

I loved outside winter camping w/my son during his scout years. We did 5 Klondikes. One at -5F and one at -15F. Cold is dry and better.

Only a dusting of snow overnight on Saturday. Light to no wind. Cold, but that meant the lake was frozen enough for the girls to horse around out there. Challenging hike, which I love.

Very good. A little south of you it was cold, slushy, icy and wet.
Woke up this morning to my injured thumb twice the size of the other. Think it might be broken.

    How is the thumb doing?
It's odd timing, my mother sliced her finger quite badly last week.
Not a good time to be a digit I guess.

Doing a lot better now. I can put pressure on the pad of the thumb without hurting it. Thanks.

Was that supposed to have question mark? People make burgers that are less than 1/3 lb?! If not, yes mine are usually 1/4 lb. I had to use up the meat, though and didn't want to freeze it.

Yes that should have had a question mark lol. 1/3 lb burgers are bog standard around my family.

Younger one is done. No play-offs because they're 3rd and 4th grade. Sixth grader's team has a play-off spot, so we're not done yet. Looking forward to having weekends back, plus the four hours of weekly practice.
Headed to Sabattis Boy Scout Camp in Long Lake tonight. Here's to hoping I don't freeze. One of you should bring me a propane heater.

I attack after dark. Use bee dust if the long term application won't affect the dogs or kids. Vacuum cleaner is a nice weapon too.
You know it'll be an unproductive day when you put sugar in the filter instead of coffee.
