Alabama Swamps is closing?

So went out to Alabama Swamps this weekend for some fun and had someone there tell me that after Memorial Day the range is being closed down. Didn’t see any signs posted or anything about this. Does anyone know anything about this? Was told it was because of all the dipshit morons that leave trash all over the place

When I was there it got very bad for a while but then people started keeping the place relatively clean. Has been on another doenward trend lately?

I've heard from multiple people that go there they are shutting it down for the exact reasons above and because some people like to bring huge buckets of tannerite and others like to throw clays in the air and shoot them with rifles and others like to shoot the stop sign on the gate opposite the range towards the walking trails in the nature preserve.

Idiots ruin everything for the rest of us, always.


Can anyone confirm if it's in fact closed now?

if its not .. good peeps that shoot there should put up some trail cams and help catch the assholes to keep it open ..

clays could be a ugly sight if a lot because of the bright orange .. but they decompose in time ..

but leaving cans and old targets and crap is never good ..

Really stinks for me because I have a bunch of shotgun target load, buckshot, and 7.62x54r surplus that I have nowhere to shoot. No indoor range will allow stuff like that, and I don't know anybody with land I can shoot on. Frustrating for me, because I would only bring paper targets and I would always clean up when I was done.

There's no information there and based on the phone number listed it's just someone who goes there that setup the page.

Niagara Sportsmens is a nice facility though.
Or it was years ago when I visited. Had I stayed in NY I would definitely have become a member there.

Any info on this place? My buddy with land that we were planning on building a range on has been busy with his home and also ex wife things, not the biggest fan of indoor ranges either. Curious if anyone knows. Hate to spend 45 minutes driving around just to find it is shut.

Tried, only found dead ends to facebook and yelp... Checked the wildlife management website too, might just have to find the park rangers contact info or something.

I think it was established that is was still open.
Your biggest problem @Dinkus the Stinkus will be trying to get a space, particularly on the weekends. You will have to get there very early (no shooting till noon) or be willing to wait for a lane to open. You might be better off going to one of the indoor ranges in the area.
In any case facilities at the swamps are very limited, which is to say non existent. The longest lane is only about 75 yards I think. It has been a very long time since I have been though.
