USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “The second-highest-ranking official at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has written a proposal to reduce gun regulations, including examining a possible end to the ban on importing assault weapons into the United States,” The Washington Post reported Monday. “The ‘white paper’ by Ronald B. Turk, associate deputy director and chief operating officer of the ATF, calls for removing restrictions on the sale of gun silencers; allowing gun dealers to have more guns used in crimes traced to their stores before the federal government requires additional information from the dealer; and initiating a study on lifting the ban on imported assault weapons.”
Somebody need to shut up these dopes using "assault weapon". No! Wait! They mean that they only want to import heavy support weapons! How patriotic of them!

I finished reading it just now. There are some good ideas in that BATFE paper as far as reducing regulations goes. Maybe even one good one for increasing a regulation reference NICS checks (checks which I generally do not oppose). I do think some of the reductions would be beneficial to commerce in firearms.
Sure if you live under a rock and think that the gov. doen't understand that big data is valuble to confiscation.

The guy's name is even "Turk" that's funny. Reduction of these ATF is logical and good for everyone even the gun grabbers. All these byzantine regs and restrictions do nothing to prevent crime or improve safety. The lowest hanging fruit is of course suppressors but removing the do nothing restrictions on SBRs and SBSs doesn't seem unrealistic to me either. Freaking Canada and even the UK have no special restrictions on barrel lengths!
UK has no mag bans either.

I do not live under a rock nor do I hide under one afraid of our government; as opposed to that, I try to assure our government acts responsibly. If you want to continue to make this personal, with implied insults about me, go screw yourself.
Half measures while leaving the fbi check will never ensure our freedom for the future; the only way to do that would be to make sure the government doesn't have the information needed to attempt confiscation. The same as it was for our entire history before Nixon in '68 wanted a way to know who possessed what.
